Chandi Homam in Tiruchendur is performed in a yagashala located outside the temple. This puja lasts for about 2-3 hours. Goddess Chandi will be invoked during this ritual. Chandi Homam is performed to remove negative energy. You can perform this puja on any day. One should take a head bath before the puja. It is advisable to perform this puja on Moola Nakshatra day or during the Navaratri festival. This puja can be performed even on your birth star day. You can ask an astrologer to find out the auspicious day for this ritual. A complete Chandi Homam may take about 6-7 hours.

Puja Dress Code
- Gents: dhoti (white) and upper cloth.
- Ladies: saree.
- Regardless of age, we kindly request that all devotees refrain from dressing in jeans and T-shirts.
Instructions to be followed
- Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
- If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
- One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
- Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.
Chandi Homam Procedure in Tiruchendur
Chandi Homam is performed outside the Tiruchendur Temple. It is best to arrive in Tiruchendur the day before. Please carry an extra dress, as we perform Avabrutham (Kalasabhishekam) at the end. We can perform Prokshana for Avabrutham. A single person or a couple can perform this puja. The yagashala is located near the main temple. Chandi Homam usually includes 13 chapters. Five to six priests are required for a complete Chandi homam. Thirteen chapters might not be read for a straightforward Chandi homam. This puja can be performed even at home. It is advisable to fast while performing this puja. We don’t suggest fasting for the elderly and children.
