• The bride, groom, bride’s parents, and groom’s parents must be Hindus.

• An unmarried certificate is required from the VRO/MRO. You can obtain the certificates online.

Vaikasi visaga Car (Ther) festival

Importance of this Car Festival is that it has four car chariots. The first car is for Lord Vinayagar, the second Ther is meant for Lord Sengottuvelavar, the third Car is meant for Lord Arthanareeswara and the fourth Car is meant for Aadhikesava Perumal. Lakhs of devotees gather on this special day.

Tiruchengode Arthanareeswarar Temple History

As per the Legend, Adiseshan (Serpent King) and Vayudevan fought rigorously to show their supremacy. Sages suggested them an idea to prove themselves. Adisesha to hold Mount Meru and Vayu executes his pressure to release the Mount Meru. Vayu’s efforts went vain and in anger, he ceased the air. All the living beings fainted with lack of air. Sages and other Devas requested Adisesha to release Mount Meru. Vayu with force threw the top of the mountain with the head of Adisesha on to the earth. These parts fell on the Earth with flesh and blood. One part is Thiruvannamalai, the second one is at Srilanka and the other is Nagamalai in Thiruchengode.

The main deity Lord Arthanareeswara is facing west direction, which is not common amongst Shiva temples. There is a Theertham called Deva Theertham under the feet of Lord Arthanareeswarar which never dries. It is believed this Theertham possess medicinal properties. Having Theertham for 48 days will cure major illness.

This temple is of 2000 years old and stand on top of the hill at 650 ft height.
