Pitru Dosha Pooja in Kashi is performed on the Ganga River ghat. The puja duration will be 3 to 4 hours. Typically, three to four pandits will be performing this ritual. This puja is performed to appease Pitrus (ancestors). Kashi is known as the Dosha Nivarana Sthala, and performing this puja will yield the best results. Pitru Dosha can be found at the birth of the Kundali. An astrologer can tell you the severity of the Dosha after checking the horoscope. This puja is advisable for those who are not performing their rituals on time. Pitrus, or ancestors, consistently bestow good fortune upon their clan. Pitrus, who resides in Pitru Loka, will expect timely rituals from the family members. Any deviation from the rules will anger them and cause them to curse their family members. It is advisable to perform this puja on an Amavasya day, Pitru Paksha, or Mahalaya Amavasya day for the best results. In Kashi, this puja will be performed on the ghats of the river Ganga.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple Varanasi India

A legend explains the history of the temple. A dispute emerged out between Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu over who was stronger. Lord Shiva assumed the shape of a beam of light that crossed three planets in his capacity as a judge. To locate the source of the light, Shiva instructed them. The most powerful person would be the one who discovered the tip of the light. While Vishnu assumed the form of a pig and dug underground to find it, Lord Brahma arrived on a horse.

On the location of the present-day Gyanvapi Mosque, Vikramaditya built a beautiful Shiva temple. Muslim rulers had destroyed the temple several times over the ages; Aurangzeb was among the most recent to do so, using the location for the construction of the Gyanvapi Mosque. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple is said to have been rebuilt by several Indian emperors since then.

The current temple was built under the direction of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, the Maratha queen of Indore, in 1780. In response to his wife Maharani Datar Kaur’s request, the Sikh Maharaja Ranjit Singh donated one tonne of gold in 1835 to plate the temple’s roof. In 1841, Raghuji Bhonsle III of Nagpur donated silver to the shrine. The temple received 60 kg of gold in February 2022 from an unknown South Indian donor. The gold was used to cover the sacred area.

Chakra Pushkarini Kunda

Manikarnika Ghat on the Ganga River is home to Chakra Pushkarini Kunda. Bhagavan Vishnu used his discus to dig out this sacred kunda, which is known as Adi Manikarnika Tirtha. According to the oldest inscriptions, this Ghat’s stone building was completed by the start of the fourteenth century. Bajirao Peshwa, the first Peshwa, backed the rebuilding of Manikarnika Ghat in the eighteenth century.

Durga Kund

The renowned Durga Temple is not far from Durga Kunda. Many travel writers effectively depicted the Durga temple and its adjacent water tank as one of the most famous temples and an excellent tank. In the eighteenth century, the Durga temple and Durga Kunda were constructed. The documents also show that Rani Ahilyabai Holkar built this huge water tank. It is also important to consider the historical truth that this temple was incorrectly referred to as the “monkey temple” in the majority of Western records. This amazing temple tank features red stones that lead to the water. This temple tank is close to the Tulasi Manasa and Sankat Mochan temples.
