As per the folklore, Lord Siva married Daksha Prajapati’s daughter Sati Devi against his wish. Daksha who came to know about his daughter’s marriage got angered. He plotted a plan to insult Lord Siva by performing Yagna. Daksha invited all Devas excluding His Son-in-law, Lord Siva and His daughter, Sati Devi. Sati who came to know about her father’s Yagna requested her Husband to attend the event. Lord Siva advised Sati not to go for this Yagna as there is no invitation. After repeated request Lord Siva allowed Sati to attend the Yagna. Sati reached her paternal home and thought of advising her father not to go against Lord Siva. Daksha insulted Sati before the guests. Angered Sati immolated herself in the Yoga Agni. Daksha continued the Yagna even after the Sati’s sacrifice. Lord Siva who came to know about Sati’s death raised her and ordered Veerabadhra to kill Daksha. Veerabhadra along with Kala and other Siva Ganas destroyed Yagna place and killed Daksha.
