Munj Ceremony Procedure, Cost, Timings, Benefits and Procedure

For Brahmins, Munja, also known as Yagnopavit Sanskar, is a significant ritual. Certain Kshatriyas and Vaishya communities also wear the sacred thread. Another name for a Brahmin is a Dwija, which translates to “the one who is born twice.” Janeu Sanskar claims to have caused a male to be born again.

To the Brahmins of Maharashtra, Munj means wedding. Following “Abhyangsnana,” which involves shaving the child’s or Batu’s head, is the most crucial activity in the “Choulkarma.”

Following “Matrubhojan,” a mother gives her son his final meal before he leaves the house to continue his education. This segment includes the “Astavarga” part, where eight children who are the same age as the Batu or have completed their Munj were asked to eat with the Batu. A straightforward, kid-friendly dinner preparation includes five different kinds of desserts.

Following Matrubhojan, the priests carry out the rites, and the Father and Son exchange garlands at “Mangalashtaka.” Here, the Father teaches him the sacred “Gayatri Mantra” chant. It is a fantastic moment for the parents to witness.

When do I perform the Munj ceremony?

When a Brahmin kid is seven years and two months old from birth or eight years old from pregnancy, his upanayana has to be done.

At twelve years old, one must do a Ksatriya.

At that age, Lord Krishna received the sacred thread. Sixteen is the same age as a Vaisya.

The sastras state that a Brahmin child’s age range is eight to sixteen years, with an additional eight years of grace.

It is wrong to avoid performing a Brahmin boy’s upanaya before he reaches the maximum age.

Ganapathi Pooja

Punyaha Vachan

Maha Sankalp

Kalash pooja

Udakashanti

Upanayana Sanskar

Kumara Bhojan or Sumangali Bhojanam

Finally, homa is performed as per Shastra.

Following the thread ceremony, the child’s father recites the Gayatri Mantra into his ears. In the past, brahmachari would go out into the public to plead for donations from different Bhikshakaranam households. This is being done indirectly during the event. Even though it would be tough to practice Bhikshakaranam every day in the current environment, doing so will cause kindness, control the ego, and remove all distinctions between the rich and the poor, high and low.

Munj Ceremony Benefits

Now the boy can study all the Vedas.

The youngster is shielded from all kinds of unpleasant emotions and spirits.

This puja improves one’s capacity for information absorption.

After the Janeu Sanskar, the Brahmin child can begin performing pujas and rituals.

Shastipoorthi Pooja in Bangalore: Cost, Benefits, Procedure, and Timings

Sashti Poorthi, which means “60 years completion” in Sanskrit (Sashti == 60). This Hindu ritual is held in honor of a person who has turned sixty years old. In Hindu culture, reaching sixty is an important milestone since it’s seen as a turning point in a man’s life, since, by then, he’s usually fulfilled his responsibilities to his family and house and can focus on spirituality. We may say that his pursuit of worldly goals defined the years before he turned sixty, and his search for spiritualism defined the years after.

This important life milestone has been celebrated with multiple and meaningful rites. People carry out certain wedding rites. This ritual is known by some as Ugra Ratha Shanthi, which translates to “peacemaking of difficult moments.”

The couple asks elders who have finished their own Sashti Poorthi for their blessings, and in return, they bless those who are younger.

Sashti Poorthi can be observed on the day, month, and year that a person turns sixty. If this is not possible, the person’s birth chart determines an auspicious day that occurs one year before turning sixty. Sashti Poorthi is often observed on the last day of the 60th year and the first day of the 61st year.

Shastipoorthi Pooja in Bangalore

Veda Aseervachana

Prasada distribution

Without “Dhanam,” or charity, the Sashtipoorthi ritual would be incomplete. The couple does a variety of Dhana to invoke blessings and wealth. The term “dasa” denotes “ten,” and Dasa Dhana is the collective name for 10 different types of offerings.

Cow Dhana, also known as Gho Dhana: Cows are considered sacred to Hindus. It is said to bring wealth and a calm being. The couple gives the Dhana to the Vedic scholars. The same outcomes occur when Go Moolya and Coconut are used in place of the cow. Go Moolya is the cow’s price.

Gold Dhana is said to grant the giver superior powers and to forgive him of all his sins.

Land of Charity, or Bhoo Dhana

The idea behind Bhoo Dhana is that granting someone land to cultivate would enable them to live a pleasant life. The offering of a piece of sandalwood is thought to complete the ceremony (substitution for land).

Vasthra Dhana: This ritual involves giving an item of cloth, usually a veshti or uthareeyam, as the name suggests. Because it brings harmony and success in life, this ritual is very significant.

Giving jaggery is done to please Goddess Lakshmi, who will shower abundant blessings on the giver.

Salt in Charity: This is done to please Lord Sri Rudra and obtain health.

Food Grains in Charity: Giving away food grains, such as rice or paddy, will enable the giver to have a wealthy life.

Silver Dhana is a ritual done to please Lord Vishnu, the pithrus, or ancestors.

Ghee Dhana: To please all the Devathas, ghee shall be offered in a bronze vessel. Ghee Dhana purifies the giver’s soul and pays for all of his faults.

Sesame Dhana: Similar to Ghee Dhana, offering sesame in an iron or copper cup helps in the giver’s purging of all sins.

The Upanayan Sanskar Vidhi, including its cost, auspicious timing (Muhurat), and booking details, is an important ritual in the Brahmin tradition.

The Upanayana Sanskar ritual is an important event in the Brahmin tradition. Some Vaishyas and Kshatriyas also wear the sacred thread. Another term for a Brahmin is “Dwija,” which translates to “the one who is born twice.” It is said that when a boy does Upanayanam Samskara, he is born again. Yajnopaveetam is a sacred thread that is wrapped over the boy’s left shoulder.

Three strands make up one sacred thread, and these three strands stand for three responsibilities. These responsibilities include the debt to God, the debt to the teacher, and the debt to one’s parents and ancestors.

When should I perform Upanayana Sanskar?

When a Brahmin kid is seven years and two months old from birth or eight years old from pregnancy, his upanayana has to be done.

At twelve years old, one must do a Ksatriya.

At that age, Lord Krishna received the sacred thread. Sixteen is the same age as a Vaisya.

The sastras state that a Brahmin child’s age range is eight to sixteen years, with an additional eight years of grace.

It is wrong to avoid performing a Brahmin boy’s upanaya before he reaches the maximum age.

Auspicious Days for Upanayana Sanskar

The best time to do Upanayana is during the sun’s northward journey, which occurs between the Tamil months of Tai and Ani (6 January to 15 July)

Although now is a good time for marriage, the spring season (Chittirai to Vaikasi) is encouraging.

Masi is the Tamil month that is best for Upanayana.

Marriage and Upanayana are not encouraged during Daksinayana, which runs from the end of Margazhi to the Tamil month of Adi.

Kumara Bhojan or Sumangali Bhojanam

And finally, the homa is performed as stated in the Shastras.

Following the thread ceremony, the child’s father recites the Gayatri Mantra into his ears. In the past, brahmachari would go out in public to plead for donations from different Bhikshakaranam households. The donation is being made indirectly during the event. Although practicing Bhikshakaranam daily in the current environment may be challenging, it fosters kindness, curbs ego, and eliminates distinctions between the rich and the poor, as well as between the high and the low.

Teej Pooja Vidhi, Timings, Thali, Samagri, and Decoration

This name goes to Hartalika Teej because of the legend that around it. The word “Hartalika” is a combination of the words “Aalika” and “Harat,” which mean “female friend” and “abduction,” respectively. Hartalika Teej’s story states that Goddess Parvati’s friend took her into a dense forest so her father could not force her to marry Lord Vishnu against her will.

Goddess Parvati’s father believed his daughter had been abducted when she disappeared so quickly. Therefore, Hartalika or Haritalika Day, is observed on this day.

According to tradition, Goddess Parvati performed tapasya in the forest to please Lord Shiva. Goddess Parvati was granted the blessing that her wish to wed Lord Shiva will come true because of her strong willpower. This day is also recognized as a celebration of the friendship of female companions, as a friend of Goddess Parvati assisted her in obtaining the hand of Lord Shiva.

The third day of Shukla Paksha, or Tritiya, is when Hartalika Teej is celebrated. Married women celebrate this event mostly in honor of Goddess Parvati.

Teej Pooja Vidhi and Samagri

Before the puja, the women should take a bath and change into new traditional clothes.
To perform a Hartalika puja at home, clean the puja mandap with Gangajal first.

Then, create three idols—one of Mata Parvati, one of Lord Shiva, and one of Lord Ganesha—using natural clay or sand.

Replace the mandap cloth with a fresh red or white fabric. Place the deities carefully on the mandapa, keeping them on a plate.

Next, evenly distribute two handfuls of raw rice into a circle in front of the deities, drawing eight lines from the circle’s center to its eight corners.

Add the following items to the kalash that you draft for puja: akshat, money, water, and supari.

Once all of these components have been added, place the coconut on top of the kalash, arrange the mango leaves on it, and place the kalash on the rice rings in front of the gods.

To the right of the gods, place a lit oil or ghee light.

Receive the blessings of Lord Ganesha by presenting fruits, coconut, supari, paan, and dakshina, along with Japa pusha and durva.

Ganapathi pooja

After washing your hands with a few drops of Panchapatra water, offer water to Lord Shiva and Parvati’s feet to begin the puja.

Present Lord Shiva with the following: a white cloth, sandal paste, sacred thread, and flowers, fruits, Vilva Patra, and white crown flowers in that order.

Offer Devi Parvati flowers, like a rose and suhag samagri, along with other items like red dupatta, sindoor, alta, bangles, kajal, vermillion, turmeric, and mehendi.

Offer naivedhya, which is free of onions and garlic.

Lit dhoop sticks and read the Vrat Katha first.

The last ritual of the puja is reciting the Hartalika Teej Vrat Katha and performing the aarti.

Ark Vivah Procedure for Male, Cost, Benefits, and Booking.

For the male with Manglik dosh or second marriage yoga in the kundali, ark mangal dosh nivaran puja or ark vivah is performed. This lets individuals live a joyful life free from obstacles brought on by the negative impacts of the unfavorable planet in their kundali. helps in eliminating the Manglik dosha from the birth chart. By carrying out this ritual, one can live a happy and fulfilling life free from obstacles brought on by the planet’s negative energies. Manglik dosha is defined as when Mangal or Kuja Graha sits in the first, fourth, seventh, eighth, or twelfth house of the horoscope and views the seventh house of the birth chart. The highest degree of Manglik dosh is noted when Mars sits in the first and seventh houses. Because it is the house of marriage, the house of the life partner, or the house of the spouse, the seventh house is taken into consideration. Vedic astrology states that Mars’s influence on the seventh house is unfavorable for marriage and married life. When it comes to a person’s marriage, Mangal Graha is the most malefic planet, or Papi Graha, and its placement in some houses causes Mangalik dosh.
