It is believed that one will attain Vishnu Loka’s afterlife by visiting Nava Narasimha Kshetras from sunrise to sunshine.

Ahobilam Ugra Narasimha Swamy

The main temple and oldest of the nine shrines is located on the Upper Ahobilam, eight kilometers from the Lower Ahobilam. Here, the angry pose of the Lord shows in the sanctum sanctorum. He is therefore known as Ugra Narasimha. He goes by the name Ahobila Narasimha and is the temple’s main deity. Here, Narasimha was ‘Svayambhu’ (self-manifest).

Bhargava Narasimha

The temple dedicated to Bhargava Narasimha is located two kilometers from Lower Ahobilam. It is situated on a hill close to the sacred pond known as Bhargava Tirtham. That is the location of Bhargava Rama’s penance. Bhargava Narasimha is the name given to the temple’s Lord as a result.
The entire distance needs to be covered.

Yogananda Narasimha

The distance between the temple and Lower Ahobilam is two kilometers to the southeast. According to a famous story, Lord Narasimha taught Prahlada various yoga poses after he defeated Hāranyakasāpu. Consequently, the master in this position is known as Yogananda Narasimha. There is a secure road that connects them.

Chatravata Narasimha

Approximately four kilometers separate the temple of Chatravata from the lower Ahobilam. This is the same motorable route that leads to Yogananda. However, to go to this shrine, we must walk about a furlong on a rough route from the road. Because a banian tree that resembles an umbrella covers this tiny temple, its deity is known as Chatravata Narasimha.

Kroda or Varaha Narasimha

The Varaha Narasāmha temple is located one kilometer from the Ahobila Narasimha main temple in Upper Ahobilam. Walking eastward by the Bhavanasını River after passing Kalakshepa Mandapa, we reach the cave temple of Kroda (Varaha). The beautiful surroundings mesmerize us as we approach. The mountains that are covered in tall trees are breathtaking. The stream of Bhavanasini flows through the narrow valley between Vedarı and Guradadri, forming the Varahagundam.

Karanja or Saranga Narasimha

The temple is located one furlong from the road that leads to Lower Ahobilam and one kilometer from Upper Ahobilam. To the left of the road flows the Bhavanasini River. The name Karanja Narasimha comes from the shrine’s location beneath a Karanja tree. The Lord’s representation appears to be sitting quietly with a cobra covering its head.
The upper left hand has a saranga, or bow, while the upper right hand has a chakra. The lower hands are holding the Dhyana mudra.

Malola Narasimha

The main temple of Upper Ahobilam is located approximately two kilometers away from the Malola temple. Here the deity is shown in his ‘Soumya’ (peaceful) feature. Malola Narasimha is the name given to Narasimha when he is seen with his consort, Lakshmi. The term ‘Malola’ signifies Lakshmi’s beloved. (Ma = Lakshmi, Lola = Beloved) The temple is situated on a level portion of the Vedadri mountain’s top. Another name for this location is Markonda Lakshmā Kshetra.

Jwala Narasimha

Situated on a hill known as “Achalachaya Meru,” the Jwala Narasimha temple is situated higher up than the Malola temple. Four kilometers or so separate this from the top Ahobilam temple. This is supposed to be the precise location where the Lord’s anger, or rage, erupted as he tore Hiranyakasipu. It is a little difficult to get to this place because there is a very deep valley on the other side of a small opening that the peak’s rocks have carved out on one side. One must proceed with extreme caution. The main entrance door of Hiranyakasipu’s expansive palace is said to be located in the area where Jwala Narasimha is sitting with Hiranyakasipu on his lap. Narasimha appeared, breaking through one of the demon’s palace’s pillars. The section of this pillar that is upright resembles a tall hill. The name Achalachayameru refers to its hilly, towering pillar.

It is commonly accepted that Narasimha appeared extremely angry after killing Hiranyakasipu. Indra and the other gods calmed him by showering Suraganga water (celestial Ganges) on his head. The water trickled into the valley nearby and eventually became the Bhavanasini River.

Pavana Narasimha

Built approximately six kilometers away from the upper Ahobilam temple, the Pavana Narasimha shrine is built on the bank of the Pavani River. The whole distance from upper Ahobilam southwards must be walked over a steep woodland path. The Chenchus, a group of indigenous people, live around one kilometer away from this temple. They continue to sing about the historic union of the Chenchu girl and Narasimha in their native tongue.

Ahobilam Ugra Stambham

Eight kilometers from the upper Ahobilam, we can see the gap where the mountain splits into two distinct halves. There is a long-standing belief that the lord materialized as Narasimha from the split, which is called “Ugra Stambham.” There is a very challenging route to take to get to this place. Here, at the foot of a mountain, is a little iron pillar placed in remembrance of the occasion.

It is said that Ahobila got its name due to the large cave. Garuda offered worship to the Lord of Ahobila here. Lord Sri Rama, who is the most well-known deity in Tirumala-Tirupathi, and Lord Srinivasa both worshiped Lord Narasimha in addition to Brahma. In Srivaishnava tradition, the Lord of Ahobila Narasimha is known as “Peria Perumal” (God of gods). It is said that Sri Rama prayed with the Panchamrta Stotra to the Lord of Sri Ahobila when he was in the forest, according to Seshadharma. Only after offering worship to Sri Narasimha on this mountain did Lord Srinivasa marry Padmavathi.

Darshan Ticket cost: Free entry on all days.

There is a direct bus to Upper Ahobilam (Eguva Ahobilam) from Allagadd. APSRTC is running buses to Ahobilam with 60 mins frequency. It usually takes 45 mins from Allagaddu.

The rush will be high on Swathi Nakshatra days (the birth of Lord Narasimha Swamy). During the rainy season, the road to Upper Ahobilam will be flooded, so it is advisable to plan during the summer and winter. Commander Jeeps are readily available at Lower Ahobilam for the Nava Narasimha Kshetra’s visit.

The best time to visit is from December to September.

Marriage Enrollment charges: Rs. 1100

Marriage is allowed during the temple’s opening hours if it is performed inside the temple. The marriage hall is available near Temple Tank and next to the temple in Lower Ahobilam.

Ahobilam Temple Marriage Procedure

1. The Bride must be 18 years and above
2. The groom must be at least 21 years old.
3. Only Hindu arranged marriages are allowed at this temple.
4. Marriages are allowed inside the temple.
5. A minimum of 3 days’ booking enrollment is required
6. Second marriages are allowed with Terms and conditions
7. Enrollment charges don’t include hall, decoration, etc.
8. The enrollment charges cover only the marriage permission granted inside the temple.
9. The marriage Enrollment Form must be duly filled out with all required details
10. The marriage enrollment form must be signed by the bride, groom, bride’s father and mother, groom’s father and mother, and two witnesses from each side.
11. Flower Mandapam Decoration, Purohit, Pooja Samagri, and Nadaswaram (Sannai Melam/Baja Bajantrilu) are allowed during the marriage.
12. Catering services are not allowed inside the temple.
13. Marriages are allowed in the Lower Ahobilam during temple opening hours. Trust Halls are also available next to the temple.

Marriage Location: Trust Rooms at Diguva Ahobilam (Lower Ahobilam)

Marriage Hall Booking Procedure

1. Hall has to be booked well in advance on submitting required documents.
2. Trust-Based Marriage hall will be allotted for 24 hours. Anything beyond 24 hours will be charged for the 2nd day.
3. Donors and Board members will have the priority over the hall allotment.
4. DD or MO or Cash has to be given for the Hall booking.
5. Only Hall, Power and Water will be available.
6. Decoration, Food arrangements, Seating Arrangement, Muhurtham Dress, Melam, Priest, Pooja materials have to be arranged on their own.
7. Marriage halls are limited so 3 months advance booking required.
8. Both Bride and Groom must be Hindus.
9. Aadhar Cards Photocopy required from Both Sides.
10. Parents presence required from both sides.
11. Cancellation or Postpone is not available for the marriage hall bookings.
12. The amount will not be refunded as it is donation made to the trust.
13. Must carry original Photo ID proof for the marriage hall booking and at the time of Hall allotment.
14. Marriage certificate will not be provided for the marriages.
