Our Sanskriti & Gyan Temples Pooja, Darshan, and Timings Balarishta Dosha Nivarana Pooja in Srisailam is performed daily. The puja lasts for about 3 hours. Two to three priests will perform this ritual. This puja is performed in a yagashala located outside the Srisailam Temple. The Sanskrit word “Balarishta” is made by joining “Bal” and “Arishta.” “Arishta” is the word for adverse luck or evil, and “Bal” is for infancy and childhood. Vedic astrological interpretations suggest a planetary position that could lead to death during infancy or childhood. In Vedic astrology, the Moon’s position in a child’s horoscope is the major indicator of the presence or absence of “Balarishta”—the child’s susceptibility to serious health problems, including death. In the past, when healthcare facilities and care were less sophisticated, “Balarishta” had a powerful effect. In addition, even a slight illness or weakness on the Moon’s part could be fatal or cause other problems. Additionally, to identify the situation, one should assess the involvement of the Lagna lords and the lords of the ninth house.
Children born in Sandhi, in Chandra Hora, with four malefics (including the Moon) occupying quadrants, or with adverse planets in the ends of signs, will die. If cruel and benefic planets, respectively, occupy the first and the second halves of the zodiac, and the birth is in an insect rasi, the kid dies immediately. When the weak Moon is in the 12th quadrant, and malefics are in the birth and the 8th quadrants without benefics, the child will die soon. If the Moon joins a malefic in the 7th, 8th, or 12th, and benefics are absent and do not aspect, the infant dies.

Instructions to be followed
- Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
- If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
- One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
- Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.
Balarishta Dosha Nivarana Pooja in Srisailam
Balarishta should be rectified in the early stages. This dosha might affect family well-being. One should take a head bath before the puja. The Moon is afflicted by malefic planets such as Mars, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu in the sixth, eighth, or twelfth houses. If the ascendant is also sick or weak, the severity will be greater. If malefic planets occupy the first and eighth houses and the Moon wanes in the twelfth, the severity increases. If the houses lack benefic aspects and malefic planets are present in the ascendant, descendant, and Moon signs, then the situation is unfavorable. When beneficial planets are moving backward into a worse condition and occupy the sixth, eighth, or twelfth houses, which also contain malefic planets, the situation worsens. In this case, both the Lagna and the Moon signs are also weak.
