Navaratri Brahmotsavam Gaja Vahanam
SriVari Navaratri Brahmotsavam Gaja Vahanam
Tirumala :
In the evening of the sixth day of Srivari Navarathri Brahmotsavam, Lord Sri Venkateswara enthralled the devotees on the Gaja Vahanam. Elephant has been a vehicle of the Lord Sri Venkanna Swamy deity from time immemorial.
Among other animals engaged in the service of the Lord, the elephant commands a special place, being the celestial vehicle of goddess Maha Lakshmi, the divine consort of Lord Maha Vishnu. To please his consorts and bless the devout with all prosperity, the Lord takes a pleasure ride on the Gaja Vahanam.
In general, a Gaja personifies a number of positive attributes, including abundance, fertility and richness; boldness and strength; and wisdom and royalty.
