Typically, two to three priests will be performing this ritual. The terms “shasti” (sixty years) and “aptha poorthi” (completion) refer to a ritual carried out after sixty years have passed. This puja should be performed on your birth star day. Even unmarried individuals can perform this puja. The puja starts as early as 7 a.m. This puja should be performed before the completion of the 61st year.
During this ritual, 11 Kalasas, 16 Kalasas, 32 Kalasas, and 60 Kalasas will be kept for the puja. The puja duration depends on the Kalasas required. This puja will be performed in the temple premises. One should perform this puja with utmost devotion and sincerity. This powerful puja removes all Graha Dosha.
Puja Dress Code
- Gents: dhoti (white) and upper cloth.
- Ladies: saree.
- Regardless of age group, we kindly request that all devotees refrain from wearing clothing such as T-shirts and jeans.
Instructions to be followed
- Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
- If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
- One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
- Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.
60th marriage in Kancheepuram
Usually, this puja will be organized by family members or relatives. The couple might have fulfilled their duties. This puja is a token of gratitude towards them. The couple should bring an additional set of clothes, as Avabrutham or Prokshana will be performed in the end. Thiru Manglayam will be performed at the end. A maximum of 10 to 15 members can attend this puja, as it is performed in the temple premises. Food will not be served in the temple premises. Shastipoorthi, Shastiapthapoorthi, and 60th marriage are all the same. The puja cost starts at Rs. 16,000 for 11 Kalasas, and it is a one-day puja. An astrologer can let you know the auspicious day for this puja. You can perform this puja in any month.
