According to Kundali, the ninth house is the house of prosperity. This house is very well-known since it is also known as the home of the Father and the forefathers. If the Sun and Rahu establish a meeting point in this house, the Kundali creates Pitru Dosha. Vedic traditions emphasize that the conjunction of the Sun and Rahu will eliminate the beneficial luck of the living. It is advisable to perform this puja in Gokarna Mahabaleshwar, as doing so will yield effective results.
The puja duration is 5 to 6 hours. 3 to 5 priests will be performing this ritual, which depends on the chants. One should reach Gokarna a day in advance, as the puja starts by 8 a.m.
Dress Code
- Gents: dhoti (white) and shirt or kurta and pyjama.
- Ladies: saree or salwar kameez (with pallu compulsory).
- All devotees are requested not to wear clothes such as T-shirts, jeans, etc., as they are strictly prohibited, irrespective of age group.

To eliminate the Pitru Dosha from one’s kundali, one should perform the Pitru Dosha Nivaran Puja. The Pitru Dosha refers to the negative effects caused by one’s forefathers. Ancestors might be unhappy if the descendants don’t perform the rituals properly. It is advised to please the departed souls by performing Pitru Dosha puja to achieve harmony in the family. Rahu is regarded as the primary cause of the 14 different types of pitru-dosh.
Performing this puja on an Amavasya day is highly preferable for effective results. The rush will be high on special days.
