It may be observed in many South Indian houses whose “KULADEIVAM” is Lord Venkatachalapathy, they pray to offer the hairs of the newborns to Lord Srinivasa and pierce ears of their newborns in this holy kshetram at KalyanaKatta Tirumala. The story behind Tirumala Hair Offering At KalyanaKatta
The first devotee who gave her hair to god is Neela Devi. Lord Srinivasa named this hill by her name as Neeladri. When Lord Srinivasa was hit by a Shepard on his head, a small portion of his scalp becomes bald. There is no hair growth over that place and this was noticed by Gandharva princess, Neeladevi. She felt such a handsome face should not have any defect. Immediately she cuts a portion of her hair and implants it on his scalp with her powers. As hair is considered as the beautiful aspect of women, Lord Srinivasa notices her sacrifice and he said all the hair given to him by devotees in Tirumala or Tirupati belongs to Neeladevi. Giving our hair to god is the symbol of leaving our ego. The word “Talanelalu” also comes from her name.

1) Birth certificate of your daughter. Supadam is 50 steps away from Vaikuntam I queue complex entrance. Vaikuntam I, is the place where all Arijtha Sevas ticket holder do report for Darshan. T.T.D information counters are available, you can check with if directions required.
2) For infant entry, it is from 8 am tll 1:30 am. Please report at your convenience.
3) Accommodation in Tirumala will take more time, as it is Brahmotsavam and that too weekend, Crowd will be high in Tirumala.
4) Ear piercing will be done at Purohit Sangam, which is on the way to Papavinasanam. Private jeeps do run to this place at high frequency. Usually, one should go do ear piercing or tonsure prior to Darshan. http://gotirupati.com/purohit-sangam-tirumala-tirupati/

You need to offer hair at KalyanaKatta which is 10 mins walk from Tirumala Bus station.
Tirumala Bus station -> Annamayya Circe -> Shopping complex -> KalyanaKatta. T.T.D info centers available at all places in Tirumala, they will guide you in reaching KalyanaKatta.

1) Once reporting at SMC 211, then you can’t go for Tonsuring. Tonsuring should be done before reporting.
2) Tirupati Ariport to Tirumala takes 30 mins (Airport To Alipiri) + 28 mins (Alipiri To Tirumala). You can get Tonsuring done at Rambageecha which is paid and takes 20 mins max for both of you, followed by Bath which takes another 20 mins. You can report at SMC 211 by 10 am.
This is possible, if you hire a cab. Please let me know the date, so that I will let you know on planning.

You can organize this way, From Airport to Rambageecha Guest House in Tirumala where you can offer Hair, it takes 60 mins by cab and Tonsure will take another 20 mins, bathing rooms available at Rambageecha to take bath.As it is paid Tonsure at Rambageecha crowd will not be high. By cab it takes 10 mins to SMC 211 reporting place.
With this you can easily manage things. Till 11 am you are allowed for Darshan. 1 hour is lead time.

As you are planning on weekday, Rooms will be easily available at Vishnu Nivasam ( walk able from Railway station entrance) , Rooms here are allotted to Pilgrims On Arrival. Rooms allotment counter will be open for 24 hours.
If you don’t find rooms here then you can check for Room at Srinivasam Complex ( Opp. Bus staiton), just 2.2 km from Vishnu Nivasam.
If you still don’t find room, then you can look for private accommodation. Ideally 50% rooms will be available at these T.T.D cottages over the weekdays.
Next day morning, plan to start little early as you need to board bus from Tirupati Bus station to Tirumala Hills. It takes 60 mins by Bus to reahc Tirumala. After reaching Tirumala, please do tonsure at Rambagicha Guest house, which is 20 – 25 mins walk form Tirumala Bus station. Rambagicha is near Main Temple. Just 5 mins walk from Main Temple entrance. T.T.D information centers available at all main places in Tirumala , who will guide you will route map. Rambagicha is a paid service, it takes 30 mins max to complete tonsure, followed by Bath to your child there itself. Hot water will be available at Rambagicha Guest house.
Now you can plan your Darshan.

Room booking is independent of Seva tickets, so you need to book rooms in advance i.e 60 days in advance.
Seva tickets will be 2 i.e. 2 person allowed on 2 tickets. If you want more then you need to create more login IDs by providing unique mobile each time.

For quick tonsure, please visit either Padmavathi Guest House or Rambageecha Guest House, it is paid service. Ticket is cost is minimal.
It will not take more than 30 mins. From Padamavathi Guest House ( 15 mins walk from SMC 211) or Rambageecha Guest House Near main temple (15 mins from SMC 211).

1) Book Rs.300 Darshan tickets online at ttdsevaonline website
2) Private accommodation to be booked. There are many decent hotels in and around Tirupati Bus station.
3) Hair tonsuring at Rambageecha Guest House in Tirumala after reaching Tirumala.
4) After tonsuring and bathing there at Rambageecha Rooms, Please report at SMC 211 for Rs.300 darshan entry
5) Darshan time will be 2 hours 15 mins
6) Collect Laddus from Laddu counter which is near to exit only. You will have proper directions to Laddu counter, easy to identify
7) Now you are good to start home.
If it is weekday, I would not suggested private accommodation.

On getting at Tirupati Railway station, please reach Tirupati Bus station which is 0.6 km away. Share auto rickshaws will be running constantly to Bus station
From Tirupati Bus station there will be a bus leaving to Tirumala in every 10 mins. On getting down at Tirumala, if you want quick tonsure and paid one then visit Rambageecha Guest House which is near to main temple. If you are looking for free tonsuring then it should at Kalyanakatta.
After tonsuring, there are bathing rooms available, you can complete bathing over there, then you can report at SMC 211 for Rs.300 darshan ticket entry.

2) Women barbers will be available in Kalyanakatta but it will be crowded all the time.
3) You can do facial and armpits shaving at your place and collect them in a polythene cover and drop the collect at Kalyanakatta Hundi after reaching Tirumala. Next option is that you have to wait at Kalyanakatta for women barbers availability and they will do that.

We have booked the 300 rs darshan for April 1st and we will be travelling with our baby and my 5 year old son and we will be doing tonsuring for both of them. We had a bad experience last time @ the kalyanakattas, so we really dont want to go there again.

1) After reaching Tirupati Station, plan to visit Kapila Theertham falls, sprinkle water from the pushkarini on your head
2) Then start your journey to Tirumala, after reaching Tirumala, plan to visit Swamy Pushkarini near to Temple and then go for Bhu Varaha swamy Darshan at the bank of Pushkarini.
3) After that you are good to join Darshan line for Lord Venkateswara Swamy Darshan
If you planning to visit other places in Tirumala.
1) After completing Darshan, plan for Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy Temple which is right opposite to main temple. Then plan to visit Akash Ganga Theertha, Papa Vinasanam, Venu gopala swamy temple, all these places falls under one route.
2) Then plan to visit Chakra Theertham, Sila Thorananam, Srivari Padalu.all these places falls under one route. Private cabs runs to these places from tirumala temple quite frequently.
3) After reaching Tirupati, plan your visit to Sri Padmavathi Amma Varu Temple, Tiruchanoor (buses runs quite frequently to this place) and Sri Govindaraja swamy temple (near railway station)

Here is the step by step by procedure
1. Please login to ttdsevaonline website to book room either in Tirumala or Tirupati.
2. First look for Rooms in Tirumala if not available then go ahead and book rooms in Tirupati
3. Look for Rooms in Srinivasam or Madhavam Guest House (which is right opposite to Tirupati Bus station), if not available then book room at Vishnu Nivasam (Opp. Tirupati Railway station)
4. Internet booking check-ins allowed for 24 hours. It is 24 hour rule from the time of check-in.
5. If room booked in Tirumala, then room will be allotted to CRO office which is right opposite to tirumala bus station
6. Check-in into the room and relax for while
7. Now plan for hair offering at Rambagicha Guest House or Sri Padmavathi Guest house. It is paid service so it will not take more than 30 mins here.
8. After having bath at room then plan to visit Srivari Pushkarini (temple tank near main temple) followed by Aadhi Varaha swamy darshan(located on the bank of srivari pushkarini)
9. Now you are good to report at ATC for Rs.300 darshan. So plan to book 2 pm – 3 pm darshan so you can manage all these things easily

1. Please login to ttdsevaonline website to book accommodation in Tirumala. Accommodation quota will be released 60 days in advance. If you are reaching Tirupati in the morning hours i.e before 9:30 am then book the slot 00:00 – 12:00 . If you are reaching tirupati after 9:30 am then look for 12:01 – 23:59 slot. It will take 1 hour 15 mins to reach Tirumala + 25 – 30 mins in boarding bus or reaching bus station.
2. Hair offering can be made at Ramabagicha Guest House which is near to main temple. It will not take more than 30 mins here.
3. For darshan, please book Rs.300(e-special entry darshan) tickets. Plan your darshan in the evening hours ie. after 4 pm so that you will have enough time to plan your activities.

Then visit Adi Varaha Swamy Temple which is on the banks of the temple tank. Darshan will take 30 mins max.

Yes, you can offer hair after Darshan but preferred before Darshan. You can easily manage even if you reach by 10:30 am in Tirumala. Hair offering at Rambagicha will not take more than 30 mins + 20 mins bathing at Srivari Pushkarini which is 5 mins walk from Rambagicha.

Srivari mettu timings are avilable from 6 am to 4:30 pm and alipiri steps are open for 24 hrs. once you get the pedestrian pass then it will be valid till 24 hrs.accomadations are fully booked you can try under current bookings and with the pedestrian pass you can get 2 laddus.for night time trekking better option is alipiri steps.may take 5 hrs to complete the darshan.
