Anegudde Vinayaka temple History
As per the Legend, Sage Agasthya decided to perform Yajna at this place as people are suffering from drought. The demon Kumbhasura started interrupting the Yajna. Bhima, Pandava brother who got the weapon ‘Asi’ from Lord Ganesh killed the demon. Hence the name Kumbasi. It is believed that this is one of the seven places of Parasurama’s creation. Lord Vinayaka Self-manifested here.
It is said that Lord Ganesha appeared in the dreams of Vishweshwara Upadhyaya as a Brahmin Boy. Ganesha took Upadhyaya to Nagachala and disappeared from there. Next day, he went in search of the place and found an idol of Lord Ganesh. He started worshipping the deity regularly. Two Pushkarinis are located outside the temple are Surya and Chandra Pushkarini.
Ane means Elephant, Gudde means hillock which means Lord Vinayaka located on a hill. The devotees used to perform Thulabhara majorly at this temple. Anna Prasada is available for the devotees and the dining hall can accommodate 1000 devotees in one stretch.

Opening Timings: 5:30 am – 9:00 pm.
Darshan is available for devotees from 6:00 am.
Temple will be thronged with devotees on Sankramana, Sankashtahara Chaturthi and Ganesha Chaturthi. Sun, Tue and Friday are auspicious days. Annual Rathotsava will be held on Margasira Chaturthi i.e First week of December. Thousands of devotees participate in the car festival.
