6TH DAY OF SRI PADMAVATHI AMMAVARI BRAHMOTSAV
GODDESS TAKES THE FORM OF “UTLA KRISHNA” ON SARVABHOOPALA VAHANAM
Tiruchanur, 24 November 2014: Goddess Padmavathi Devi dressed up as “Utla Krishna” went around the four-mada streets of the temple town on the ‘Sarva Bhoopala Vahanam’ on Monday morning.
The attire of Goddess resembled Lord Krishna, with flute in one hand and other hand trying to hit the mud pots filled with butter. The devotees who thronged to witness the procession were fascinated by this “New Look” of Goddess. As the vehicle moved, the devotees all along the route chanted Her Divine names with devotion.
Richly decorated in colourful robes and a peacock feather on Her crown, the Goddess with a lovely smile on Her charming face, blessed the devotees on Sarva Bhupala Vahanam. Goddess in guise of Her love, clearly depicted that She is the Supreme Ruler of all the worlds in the cosmos.
SIGNIFICANCE OF GANGUNDRA MANTAPAM: While riding along the four-mada streets, the Goddess halted for a few minutes in “Gangundra Mantapam”, an ancient hall constructed some 150 years ago by trustees of a charity from Mysore. The Goddess who had a hectic day in the procession, halted here to have some water to overcome Her tiredness. The name of this resting place – Gangundra means “Having Gangajal” which is nothing but drinking water and hence got the name.
This particular hall has a historical significance in the procession of vehicles during Brahmotsavams, as the deity rests for a while which was in practice since several decades.
