Significance of Godadevi Kalyanotsavam

Significance of Godadevi Kalyanam is equally important and is performed similar to Sita Rama Kalyanam in Treta Yuga, Rukmini Krishna Kalyanam in Dwapara Yuga, Padmavathi Srinivasa Parinayam in Kaliyuga

Goda Kalyanam was observed 5000 years ago wherein Andal Sri Godadevi tied the knot to Sri Krishna Swamy.

Godadevi and Sri Krishna Swamy Kalyanotsavam in Tirupati

Earlier, the deities of Andal Sri Goda Devi and Sri Krishna Swamy, finely decked in dazzling jewels and bright silks were brought and seated on a special platform on the stage.

Every year this Kalyana Mahotsavam will be performed during Dhanur Masam.

Godadevi Kalyanotsavam Series of events

Archakas performed the celestial wedding in a colourful manner by chanting Vedic hymns. The marriage observed with utmost devotion and grandeur with a series of events including

  1. Punyahavachanam
  2. Vishwaksena Aradhana,
  3. Ankurarpanam
  4. Kankanadharana
  5. Pratisarabandhana Puja
  6. Sankalpam
  7. Later the Gotra Namas of deities were recited with Gargeya Gotra for Sri Krishna Swamy and Bhargava Gotram for Goda Devi
  8. Kanyadana Mahotsavam
  9. Mangalyadharanam
  10. Varanamayiram
  11. Naivedyam and Mangala Harati performed at the end.

The presiding deity of Sri Venkateswara Swamy at Tirumala will be decorated with Sri Goda garlands brought from Sri Govindarajaswami temple in Tirupati. The garlands were the presentations of Sri Godadevi (Goddess Andal ) as part of Sri Goda Parinayotsavam festival.

The holy garlands will first reach Pedda Jeeyar Mutt at Tirumala in the morning hours and later taken to Srivari temple with Mangala Vaidyams in a holy procession.

Later these garlands will be adorned to Mula Virat of Sri Venkateswara after puja programs.
