Naga Pratishta in Visakhapatnam: Cost, Benefits, Booking, and Procedure
As per the folklore, Rishi Kashyap, the son of Lord Brahma, had four wives. One of them gave birth to the Devata, another to the demons, a third to the Garudas, and a fourth to the Nagas. This belief is also one of the reasons why snakes, also known as Naga Devatas, are considered holy. The most significant Naga is Shesh Naga, who has a thousand heads and serves as Lord Vishnu’s resting place. Anant, Vasuki, Padmanabha, Shankhpal, Takshak, and Kaaliya are some other well-known Nagas.
Naga Pratishta involves performing all of the pujas to the serpent idol. It helps in overcoming difficulties caused by Sarpa dosha.
It is believed that performing Nag Pratishta will remove Sarpa dosha. The Vedic texts reveal that Sarpa dosha represents the curse of the serpent. In general, Sarpa dosha is considered to be caused by the placement of Rahu, Kethu, Mars, Saturn, and Sun in three Kendra Sthanas (1, 4, 7, and 10) and Rahu in the Lagna, second, fifth, seventh, or eighth house. Killing a snake or removing an anthill might cause this dosha.
