Naga Pratishta for Marriage in Rameswaram
Naga Pratishta (serpent idol installation) is a long procedure to remove the dosha related to marriage. This dosha can be inherited from previous generations or caused by personal wrongdoing. Killing or removing an anthill (where the snake rests) might cause this dosha. Unknowingly or knowingly performing acts will attract Sarpa dosha. This dosha causes delays in marriage, disturbances in the family, disputes between husband and wife, and financial disturbance. This dosha can be identified based on the Kundali (birth chart) or the current situation.
The installation of a serpent idol is a holy ritual to get rid of this dosha. This puja is performed outside the main temple. This puja can be performed in a day or two, which depends on the puja’s starting time. Performing this puja on Ashtami days, Naga Panchami, Ashlesha Star Day, Panchami, Ekadasi, Shasti, Dasami, and Kiruthika Star Day is highly preferred.
- One should take a head bath and wear new clothes.
- Performing this puja while fasting is advisable.
- Those who cannot stay long without food can have liquids.
- Individuals should stop consuming non-vegetarian food 3 days before the puja.
- After the pooja, one should take a headbath and leave the clothes.
- One should not consume non-veg for another 7 days after the puja.
