Mangalagiri Panakala Swamy Panakam Timings, History
It is said that devotees used to offer Honey during Krutayuga, Ghee during Dwaparayuga, Milk during Tretayuga and Panakam or Jaggery water in the present Kaliyuga. Devotees used to offer Panakam to the Lord Narasimha by pouring Jaggery water into the wide-open mouth of the Lord, which is 15 cm wide. Only half of the Panakam will be accepted by the Lord by making sounds as if someone is drinking the water (One can hear this sound clearly) and the remaining half will come out of the mouth which then will be offered to the devotees as the Prasadam. There will be no ants or flies even after offering large quantities of Jaggery water. This Panakam offering will be made through Conch. Devotees who used to visit this temple, purchase Jaggery water which is readily available in the bottles.
