Kamakhya Ambubachi Mela Date and Timings
During Ambubachi Mela the temple remains closed. It is believed that Goddess Kamakhya bleeds or mensurates during this time. The goddess worshipped here in Yoni form (Female Genetial). This festival will be celebrated for 4 days in the month of Jun every year. This Mela is also called Tantric Fertility festival. On the 4th day, the goddess will be given a bath to purify. The devotees are offered with bits of wet cloth used during mensuration. Lakhs of devotees throng temple during these days. During Mela, there will no food preparation and all temples nearby will be closed.
