Kaligiri Venkateswara Swamy Temple History
This temple wields a rich history, with the British rulers earmarking 10 hectares of forest land for the Kaligiri temple in 1893.
The temple trustees observed that on the same date of the same year, the British had also reserved 15 hectares of land to Lord Sri Venkateswara temple at Tirumala hills.

Lord Brahma along with other God’s went to Sri Venkateswara Swamy on Tirumala Hills to represent the sufferings. He bestows the representation and provides them with relief. Lord Maha Vishnu went on Garuda to capture Kalipurusha. While trying to escape from Lord Maha Vishnu, Kalipurusha took the shape of a hill called Kaligiri. To stop Kali acts, Lord Vishnu puts his first step on the hill, which is named as “Noolukonda”.
One can find these footprints (3 ft long approx) which next to the pond.
Ganga took the birth at the footsteps of Maha Vishnu and formed as perennial Pushkarini. Devotees used to the holy dip at this Pushkarini.

How to reach Kaligiri Konda From Tirupati?
- Drive Towards Chittoor, after crossing NendraGunta (which is 40 km approx from Tirupati) take a left towards Penumur. While driving towards Penumuru path you notice direction to Kaligiri Konda. Hill Top can be reached either by Car or Foot
