About Lord Dhanvantari’s Incarnation

Dhanvantari, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, holds a pot of nectar in one hand. One of the most significant personalities in Ayurvedic history is Lord Dhanvantari. According to the Vedas and Puranas, he was the gods’ physician and a skilled surgeon. A group of sages, including the famous Indian surgeon Susruta, met him during his incarnation as king of Kashi, Divodasa, asking him to teach them the art of Ayurveda. According to Dhanvantari, Brahma wrote the Ayurveda before he created humanity. In response to the sages’ request, Dhanvantari restructured Brahma’s Ayurveda into eight divisions.

Dhanvantari was assigned by Lord Indra to teach people the science of Ayurveda, according to alternative arrangements of the practice’s beginnings. Hinduism regards Dhanvantari as an avatar of Vishnu. Dhanvantari emerged from the ocean with a bowl of nectar in his hands.
