The most common way to see Sri Dakshinamurthy is in the sitting posture under a banyan tree. In this posture, he is stamping down on the dwarf (signifying ignorance and delusion) with his right leg extended downward. Additionally, his right knee or thigh is supported by his left foot, which is bent. He has a relaxed sitting position. There are no bends in his body or posture. Simple Pooja Procedure at Home
- Perform this puja on Thursdays, but not during Rahu Kalam timings, i.e., 1.30 to 3 p.m.
- On Wednesday evening, soak Channa Dal in water.
- The next morning, prepare a garland with 108 Channa Dhals using a sewing needle and white thread in turmeric solution. After that, we bind the knot by expressing our desires.
- Offer the channa dal garland, yellow flowers, and yellow-colored cloth to the Dakshinamurthy in a local temple.
- Repeat this pooja process for eleven weeks.
