Bhadrakali Temple Warangal History

From the inscriptions, it is known that this temple was built by the Chalukyan King Pulakesi II in 625 century A.D. Temple was built to celebrate the victory over Venginadu lies on the banks of  River Godavari. Later this region came under the control of Kakatiya’s, under whom the temple had a glorious time. Kakatiya’s adopted Goddess Kali as their Family deity. Ganapathi Deva of Kakatiya dynasty built the present lake which is next to the temple.

Later this region came under the attack of Muslim rulers Alauddin Khilji and his general Malik Kafur, Ghias Uddin Tughlaq, Bahamani Sultans and Golconda Nawabs. Temple lost its prominence and wealth during the invasion and the wealth of this temple was looted by the Muslim rulers.

It is only in the year 1950, Sri Ganapathi Sastry from Karnataka who was an ardent devotee of the Goddess renovated the temple with the help of Affluent Villagers.

Darshan Duration: 15 to 20 mins during weekdays. 30 to 40 mins during weekends. Temple will be crowded during Navaratri festival days, Nov, Dec and other festival days.

Thousand Pillar Temple History

This temple was built during the reign of Kakatiya dynasty of Warangal in 1163 A.D. This temple was built with the pious effort from the King Rudra Deva of the Kakatiya dynasty. This temple complex has three shrines, dedicated to Lord Siva, Vishnu and Surya (Sun God). A large black basalt stone Nandi placed on an open platform in between the temple and the Nandi Pavilion. This temple was destroyed by the Muslim ruler Tuglak during his invasion of the south. The sculptural decoration around the walls of the temple is a depiction of human activities, showing fresh charms, elegance and almost metallic finish. The perforated screen pattern on the flanks of the door jambs, female figures in various dancing poses, all display the supreme workmanship accomplished by the sculptor of that age.

Ramappa Temple Warangal History

This temple was built during the reign of Ganapati Deva from Kakatiya dynasty in 1213 Century A.D. This temple was built with the pious efforts from the general Rudra of the Recherla family.  To the north of the main temple is a subsidiary temple whose platform has eight cells. The entrance door is carved with the images of Siva Thanadavam poses. There is an another temple in the south with beautiful carvings. The sculptural decoration around the walls of the temple is a depiction of human activities, showing fresh charms, elegance and almost metallic finish.
