Thirupullani Temple: History, Timings, and Darshan Duration.

Darshan Duration: 15 to 20 minutes on weekdays and 20 to 25 minutes on weekends.

Thirupullani Temple Mythology and History

The story goes that King Dasaratha did Putrakamesti Yagam and Nagaprathishta here in this Divya Desam. This is where Vibhishana gave up and gave himself to Lord Rama. Lord Rama fasted for seven days while lying on Kusha grass in the Sayana pose. He did this to ask the ocean god to help him find a way to go to Lanka. This is where Samudra gave up and gave Lord Rama his life. It’s the same as when Lord Rama used monkeys to help him build the Sethu Bridge. Out of the 108 Divya Desam, this is one.

Pullavar, Kalavar, and Kanvar were three monks who were very devoted to Lord Vishnu during the Krithayugam times. Asuras were always messing with their snacks. This is why Lord Vishnu came to Earth as a Banyan tree, killed the Asuras, and made everything right again. This is where Lord Vishnu showed his Viswaroobam.

The Lord is shown here resting on the grass in the position of Sayana. The word “Anai” means “Lord,” “Thru” means “grass,” and “Pul” means “grass.” There were two main gods: Goddess Sri Padmasani Thayar and Thiru.

People say that Impressed Aadhi Jagannatha Perumal blessed him with a bow after praying to Lord Rama. The name of this spot is Saranagathi Kshetram.

It was written in Ayodhya Kandam that Bharata gave up his life and begged Lord Rama to go back to the Kingdom.

In Aranya Kandam, it says that Sages gave up their lives and turned to the Lord to get safety from Asuras.

In Kiskinda Kandam, it was said that Sugriva gave up and turned himself into Rama to get safety from his brother Vali. At this point, Samudra gives up and gives Lord Rama his life.

GODDESS GETS READY FOR GAJA VAHANAM AFTER HAVING “SANDAL BATH” / SANDAL BATH TO GODDESS SRI PADMAVATHI AMMA VARU

Tiruchanur, 23 November 2014: Having a hectic schedule with series of rituals beginning with Suprabhatam, Sahasranamarchana, Pallaki Utsavam, Snapana Tirumanjanam on Sunday, Goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi had an exotic and aromatic “sandal bath” in Vasanthotsavam.

This unique ritual is usually conducted only on fifth day afternoon of the annual brahmotsavams where in the priests render vedic hymns and render sandal bath to give a relaxing “chill-thrill”experience and soothing feel to Goddess. The priests render the sloka “Hiranya Varnam Harinim” and appease Lord of Beauty Sri Manmadha in Vasantha Kalasa.

In other words vasanthotsavam which is also called Chandanotsavam also acts as a beauty spa and enhances the pristine beauty of Goddess to get ready for the most important vahana seva of Gaja Vahanam which takes place on Sunday evening.

Usually Vasanthotsavam in Tiruchanoor is observed as varotsavam on every Friday, Samvatsarotsavam (annual event for three days in a year) and the one which is performed on the fifth day of annual brahmotsavams.

Local MLA Sri C Bhaskar Reddy, Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar, Temple Sp Gr Dy EO Smt Chenchu Lakshmi and others took part in this religious fete.

Enchanting fragrance spread all over the premises of Sri Padmavathi Amma Varu Temple, Tiruchanoor, where the festival of flowers-Pushpayagam took place in ceremonial way.

Usually this religious ceremony is performed after Annual Brahmotsavams on the asterism of Kartheeka Maasam as per Hindu calendar.

After the daily pujas, Goddess Sri Padmavathi AmmaVaru is seated on a special golden platform and Snapana Tirumanjanam was performed.

Later the utsava murthy is decked up and the most unique worship was done to them with tones of varieties of flowers.

Traditional flowers including sampangi, maruvam, davanam, chamanthi, roses, kaluva etc. were blessed to have touched the deities from top to bottom in this floral bath rendered to them amidst chanting of vedic hymns.

This religious floral fete has come to an end with the deities immersed to their neck depth. Later procession was taken place in the evening.

There was an age old belief that this festival is usually performed to save the earth from natural calamities such as quakes, cyclones, epidemics and appease the Lord to save the life of humanity, flora and fauna from all the catastrophes.

GODDESS AS LORD SRI RAMA RIDES ON HIS “LOYAL SERVANT” HANUMANTHA ; Hanumantha Vahanam Tiruchanoor

Tiruchanur, 22 November 2014: As a part of the ongoing annual Karthika Brahmotsavams, on the serene evening of Saturday, Goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi dressed up as Lord Sri Rama with bow and arrow in Her hand, mounted on the mighty Hanumantha Vahana blessed Her devotees at Tiruchanoor.

Service to the Lord is so intimate that He offers it to only the most trustworthy souls. The right example for this “Dasya Pravrithi” is none other than the great and strong yet humble Hindu mythological character Lord Hanuman who dedicated his entire life in the service of Lord Sri Rama.

Hanuman stands tall as a right example of Dasyam means surrendering totally to His master or Lord. By riding on this vahanam, the Goddess taught her devotees that “Dasya means not to serve the Lord directly, but to serve those who serve Him. Our aspiration should rather be to serve the servants of the servants of the servants of the Lord, stretching our humility as far as our realizations will allow.

A true servant of God finds joy in serving the servants of God. So great is the pleasure found in the effort and sacrifice of such service.

Thousands of devotees converged to catch the glimpse of Goddess in Lord Rama Avatara on the mighty Hanumantha Vahana.

Chief Secretary of AP Sri IYR Krishna Rao, TTD EO Sri MG Gopal, JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, JEO Tirupati Sri P Bhaskar, ACVSO Sri Sivakumar Reddy, Temple Spl.Gr.Dy.E.O.Smt Chenchu Lakshmi, SE III Sri Ramachandra Reddy, former TTD Board Chairman Sri K Bapiraju, AEO Smt Nagarathana, Supdt Sri Varaprasad, Arjitham & Prasadam Inspectors Sri Anjaneyulu and other temple staff, huge number of devotees took part in this festival.
