Akkalkot Swami Samarth History

As per the Legend, Nrusimha Saraswati, an incarnation of Lord Dattatreya did penance for 150 years. He travelled extensively to China, Java, Sumatra, Japan and many other places. He enlightened disciples and showed the devotees with the spiritual path. Finally, he reached the Himalayas and continued penance for 250 years. During this time, his body was covered with ant-hill. A woodcutter unknowingly invoked Nrusimha Saraswati, who travelled many places in India and finally settled in Akkalkot for 24 years ie. 1854 AD – 1878 AD. Maharaj enters Samadhi on 30 Apr 1878 which ends the 600 years of incarnation. It is believed that Swami Samarth blesses devotees from Samadhi Mandir. There is a banyan tree outside the temple which is said to be the meditating place for Samarth Maharaj. This tree is worshipped with equal importance, believed that it posses spiritual powers.

Maharaj Entered Samadhi on Chaitra Vadya Trayodashi day.

It is the 15 Day Cultural Festival.

Starting Day: Shakambari Purnima in the month of Magh.

Ending Day: Following Amavasya day.

As per the folklore, A young girl Kumbharkanyya expressed her wish to marry Siddarama. Siddarama denied her request instead granted permission to marry his Yogadanda, which is believed to be presented by the Lord Srisaila Mallanna.

It is one the major event during this festival, that bamboo sticks are decorated and performs wedding ritual treating them as Bride and Bride Groom. The decorated Bamboo sticks are called Nandi Dwajas, the devotees used to tie these sticks around their waist.

This festival is 900 years old and attracts devotees from Maharastra, Karnakata and, Andhra Pradesh.

Solapur Siddheshwar temple History

As per the Legend, Once Solapur was hit by the severe drought. Siddarameswara an ardent devotee of Srisailam Mallikarjuna Swamy, with the help of 4000 locals dug the earth to create a Pool. Lord Siva disguised himself in the form a Jangam Swamy approached Siddarameswara and said that he is from Srisailam and called by Srisaila Mallinath. Lord Siva said that he is feeling hungry and asked him for a Roti. After having Roti, Lord Siva asked Siddarama for the Curd as the Roti is causing Buring Sensation in the stomach. Siddaramesawara went outside to bring the curd, on his return he didn’t find Mallanna. Siddrama approached Jangam Swamy Ji group who are on their way to Srisailam.  Jangam Swamy’s told Siddarama that they will show him Srisaila Mallana. Siddarama was not happy even after having Jyotirlinga Darshan. He wept continuously as he couldn’t find Srisaila Mallinath. It is believed that the tears from Siddarama filled the empty lake with water. Siddarama thought of jumping from the Valley Rudrakada as he didn’t hear anything back from Srisaila Mallanna. Lord Siva rescued him and asked him to return to Solapur and he will manifest on his request. With the help of the King Nanappa and the Queen, Chamala Devi built the temple for the Lord Siva.

Siddarama installed 68 Lingas in and around the temple. Temple is surrounded by the water on the four sides. Siddarama is a Lingayat Saint. He later entered Samadhi.
