<p>This fort was built on Gopagiri. From the inscriptions, it is known that 139 Kings ruled this fort.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gwalior fort History</h2>



<p>• According to the inscriptions was built in 8th CE &amp;, King Suraj Sen (Suraj Sen Pal) Was the founder of this fort.<br>• This fort was ruled by 135 kings<br>• The Pal Kingdom Ruled this fort for a long time, (989 Years, i.e, up to 83 descendants)<br>• Later Kachchapaghatas Ruled<br>• Mohammad Ghazni Attacked this fort in 1023 CE &amp; Failed<br>• Qutb Al-Din Aibak Ruled in the 1196 Year<br>• 1231 Ghulam Kingdom Iltumish Ruled<br>• After Iltumish King Devram brought the Thomar Kingdom in Gwalior<br>• 1398 to 1505 Thomar Kingdom ruled the region<br>• Maan Singh was&nbsp;popular in the Thomar&nbsp;Kingdom<br>• 1505 Sikander Lodi Tried To Capture the Fort but failed to defeat Maan Singh<br>• 1516 Ibrahim Lodi Son Of Sikander Lodi Defeated (Killing) Maan Singh<br>• Later Mughals Ruled:<br>• Babur (Mughal Emperor) attacked the Thomar Kingdom &amp; Won The Fort<br>• In 1542, Babur&#8217;s Son Humayun was defeated by Sher Shah Suri<br>• In 1540, Sher Shah Suri was killed by Islam Sha (Delhi Sultanate) Shifted their kingdom From Delhi to Gwalior<br>• In 1558, Akbar Attacked &amp; Ruled the fort<br>• After Mughal Rulers, Rana &amp; Zhata Kingdom Ruled<br>• Then Marathas<br>• From 1736 to 1756, King Bhim Sinh Rana (Zhata Kingdom) ruled<br>• In 1779 Marata Chatrap of Sindhya Kul Ruled<br>• But later East India Company captured the fort from Marata Chatrap<br>• Middle of 1804 &amp; 1844 British &amp; Sindhya rulers ruled<br>• In 1844 Sindhya attacked Maharajpur (Sindhya Ruled)<br>• 1st June 1858 Rani Lakshmi Bai &amp; Maratas Vidrohis Ruled<br>• 16 June British General announced war on Maratas Vidrohis<br>• Rani Lakshmi Bai &amp; Maratas Vidrohis were defeated by the Britishers<br>• Exact after 3 days (Death Of Rani Lakshmi Bai) Britishers Captured the fort.<br>• Then Britisher handover the Ford to Sindhiya&#8217;s<br>• Scindhiya&#8217;s ruled up to 1947</p>

<p>Jaivilas Palace Gwalior Timings, Entry fees, Route and Images</p>



<p>This palace was built in 1874 by the King Jayaji Rao Scindia and the palace stretches over an area of 28.48 acres. The palace is 100 ft Long, 50 ft wide and 41 feet in height. This is a three-storeyed building, the First floor reflects Tuscan architecture, Italian-Doric on the second floor and Corinthian on the third floor. It cost Rs.1 Crore for the construction and was designed and built by the European Architect Sir Michael Filose.</p>

<p>Gwalior Sun Temple History, Timings, Darshan, Pooja and Route info</p>



<p>This temple was built in 1988 by the Birla Group and the construction reflects Konark Sun temple. Red stone was used to construct the temple. This temple is dedicated to Sun God. The temple structure reflects Sun Chariot where Seven Horses were riding the chariot. Sundials and the images on the temple walls are the replicas of Konark Temple.&nbsp; It took 4 years to build this temple in lines with Konark temple but this one is small compared to Odisha Konark temple.</p>



<p>Timings: Sunrise to Sunset. Temple remains closed after Sunset (6 pm). Aarti offered in the Sunset around 5 pm. Aarti offered twice in a day ie. morning and evening.</p>



<p>Temple remains open on all days.</p>



<p>Best Time to visit: Oct-May 1st week.</p>

<p>Sanchi Stupa Timings, History, Images, Route info, Significance.</p>



<p>This Stupa was discovered by General Taylor in 1818 and This place was abandoned for 600 years since the 14th Century. The gateways depict images from Buddha Life. This stupa was constructed by Emperor Ashoka in 3rd Century BC in honour of Lord Buddha. Last addition took place after 5 centuries by Guptas prior to 450 AD. This site was declared as the UNESCO heritage site in India.</p>



<p>Stupa 1 is having four gateways which were decorated with scenes from Life of Buddha and Jataka tales. Buddha relics were placed in this Stupa. This stupa is of 54 ft in height. This stupa was crowned by a Chhatra to honour and protect the relics of Buddha.</p>



<p>Stupa 2 dates back to 2nd Century BC and is at the edge of the hill.</p>



<p>Stupa 3 Belongs the 150 &#8211; 140 BC. It is Northeast to Stupa 1. Relics of Shariputra and Mahamoggallana (Two famous disciples of Buddha) were kept in the inner chamber. This stupa is having one&nbsp;gateway.&nbsp;In the year 1919, Sir John Marshall established a museum.</p>

<p>Bhimbetka caves Timings, Paintings, Origin, History</p>



<p>These caves were discovered during 1957 &#8211; 58 by the wandering archaeologist V.S.Wakankar. It took 16 years to excavate these caves. Currently, Entry is available for 12 caves out of 600 excavated caves. It is one of the 24 Heritage Sites recognized by the UNESCO in India.&nbsp;&nbsp;It is believed that Pandavas took shelter in these caves after their exile from the kingdom.</p>



<p>Best Time to Visit: Jul &#8211; Mar.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bhimbetka caves Paintings</h2>



<p>The rock paintings represent&nbsp;Daily events of Life. Images depict Hunting, Dancing, Music, Animal Fighting, Honey Collection, Decoration of body, Household scenes. The oldest painting is 12,000 years old and the most recent art paintings are of 1000 years old.</p>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Upper Paleolithic (Pre-Historic paintings)</h4>



<p>Linear representations of the images. White, Dark Red and Green colour images represent large&nbsp;animals like Bison, Elephant, Rhino and Tiger. Stick like human figures. Red colour used for Hunters and Green Colour used for Dancers.</p>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Mesolithic</h4>



<p>Paintings were in small size. Most of the images represent&nbsp;Hunting Scenes. Hunters were painted with simple clothes, ornaments.</p>



<p>Emotional expressions of animals were represented here. Clothed women community dance, Food preparation, Images depict men, women and children.</p>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Chalcolithic</h4>



<p>Images depict ideas exchange between Cave Dwellers and Agriculture communities. White, Yellow, Orange, Red, Brown, Green colours were in major. Images depict passion towards storytelling, Hunter and Animal struggle for survival, Power over the animals, Lifestyle and daily events.</p>

<p>Maihar Devi Temple, Timings, History, Darshan and Puja</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Maihar Devi Temple History</h2>



<p>As per the legend, Sati, Daksha Prajapati&#8217;s daughter married Lord Siva against her father&#8217;s will. Daksha decided to perform Yagna in a grand inviting all Devas except Lord Siva and Sati. Sati who came to know about the Yagna reached her paternal home ignoring Lord Siva&#8217;s request. Daksha insulted Sati before the guests. Angered Sati self-immolated her in the Yogagni. Angered Lord Siva ordered Veerabhadra to destroy Yagna and Kill Daksha. Veerabhadra along with Kali and other Siva Ganas destroyed Yagna and slayed Daksha&#8217;s head. Lord Siva danced the dance of destruction on collecting Sati&#8217;s corpse. Lord Vishnu to avoid universal destruction sent his Chakra and made Sati&#8217;s body into pieces. The pieces which fell across Indian Subcontinent and emerged as Shakti Peetas. It is believed that Sati&#8217;s Necklace fell here. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peetas across the Indian Subcontinent.&nbsp;This temple was built in 502 AD.</p>



<p>This temple is located on top of the Hill Trikoota and takes 1063 steps to reach the temple. The ropeway is also available for the convenience of the devotees.</p>



<p>The Temple will be thronged with thousands of devotees during Navaratri and on Sri Rama Navami days.</p>

<p>Morning Hours: 5:00 am &#8211; 8:00 am</p>



<p>Evening Hours: 4:00 pm &#8211; 9:00 pm</p>

<p>Temple will be crowded during Sivaratri and Karthika months. Thousands of devotees throng temple during this time. Abhisheka and Bilwa Archan is performed by the devotees.</p>



<p>Temple Timings: 6:00 am &#8211; 8:00 pm. Daily.</p>



<p>Timings might change on special days.</p>
