This temple was built in 1996 which took 20 years for the construction. The idols were installed on 21Feb 1996 by Swami Chidananda Maharaj. This temple was built in lines of Laxmi Narayan and Lingaraj Temples architecture. The interior walls were carved with scenes from Bhagavat Gita. The Idols of Radha Krishna, Goddess Kali, Siva were installed in the temple complex. This temple was built by the Birla group.

Aarti is offered in the morning and evening hours. Krishnashtami will be celebrated in a grand.

Sri Sarada Devi Temple

This temple was built in memory of Sarada Devi on 21 Dec 1921. Sarada Devi’s body was burnt here in 1920.

Swami Vivekananda Temple

This temple was built in memory of Swami Vivekananda on 28Jan 1924. Swami Vivekananda was cremated here as per his wish, who used to spend time at Bilwa tree.

Kalighat temple History

As per the Legend, Sati Devi daughter of Daksha Prajapati married Lord Siva against her father’s will. Daksha thought of insulting Lord Siva for which he decided to perform Yagna. For this Yagna, he invited all Devas excluding Lord Siva. Sati who came to know about her father’s Yagna thought of visiting her maternal home. Lord Siva warned her as they don’t have an invitation for the Yagna. Sati Devi convinced Lord Siva and reached Yagna place. Daksha insulted her daughter in front of the guests. Angered Sati raised high and immolated herself in the Yogagni. Lord Siva ordered Veerabadra to destroy Yagna place and kill Daksha. Veerabhadra along with Kali and Siva Ganas destroyed Yagnashala and Killed the Daksha. Lord Siva performed Dance of Destruction on collecting Sati’s Corpse. Lord Vishnu to protect the universe sent his Chakra and made Sati’s body into pieces. These body pieces fell across Indian Subcontinent and were named as Shakti Peetas. It is believed that Sati’s toes of the right foot had fallen here.

The temple will be thronged with devotees during Navaratri days.

Rani Rashmoni installed the Goddess Kali Idol on 31st May 1855. It is said that One Lakh Brahmins participated in this event. Rani Rashmoni installed Laxmi Narayan Idol in the Navaratna Temple on 31st May 1855 to fulfil her Late Husband wish. This temple is located on the banks of River Ganga. 12 Siva Temples are located in the temple complex. Ramkumar was made the head priest of this temple. Ramakrishna took the priest role after his brother Ramkumar demise.

Ghat is located backside to the temple for a holy dip. It is clean and well maintained.

Major festivals are Navaratri, Sivaratri and Karthik Masa days. Thousands of devotees throng temples on these festival days. Darshan usually takes 1 hour – 1 hour 30 mins on weekends.

The ferry is available from Belur Math to Dakshineswar Temple.
