<p>The devotees are allowed to write Om with Chandan on Shiv Ling. Jalabhishek, Bilwarchana can be performed. The devotees are allowed to touch Shiv Ling. Karthika Masa, Monday&#8217;s, Sivaratri festival days will be crowded. Amavasya day is an auspicious day for Darshan. Thousands of devotees worship Lord Shiv on Amavasya day. Bhog will be offered to Karthikeya at first. Three days the festival will be celebrated for Sivaratri.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Matangeshwar Temple Khajuraho</h2>



<p>This temple was built by the Chandel King Chandra Dev in the 9th century. Chandra Dev an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. This Shiv Ling is 18 feet tall ie. 9 feet tall from the basement and 9 feet under the basement. It is said that Chandra Dev installed Shiv Ling on top of Markata Mani. The rays from the Markata Mani believed to cure illness and bless devotees with positive energy. Lord Ganesha Idol is located at the temple entrance. Karthikeya and Maa Parvati Idols are located in Garbha Griha. This temple was named after Chandra Dev Guru Ji Matang. </p>



<p>Sivaratri festival commence on 12:00 am itself and at 6:00 am Aarti and Alankar will be performed. Hundreds of couples get married on Sivaratri day.</p>

<p>Khajuraho Kandariya Mahadeva Temple History, Timings, Route Info</p>



<p>This temple is dedicated to Lord Siva. From the inscriptions, it is known that this temple was built by the King Ganda during 1025 &#8211; 1050 AD. This temple falls under Western Group which is a UNESCO world heritage.&nbsp;This is the largest temple of all temples in the complex with 31 mt tall Garbha Griha. The temple structure looks like a Huge Siva Linga.&nbsp;Temple consists of Ardha Mandapam, Maha Mandapam, Antarala and Garbha Griha. The Idols of four-armed Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu are seen in Garbha Griha.</p>

<p>Khajuraho Vishvanatha Temple History, Timings, Darshan</p>



<p>This temple was built by the King Dhanga in the 11th Century AD. This temple is dedicated to Lord Siva and is located between&nbsp;Lakshmana and Kandariya Temple. This temple falls under Western Group of temples and is part of UNESCO Heritage sites. Temple was built in Nagara style using Sandstone.</p>



<p>The Sanctum Sanctorum has the shrines of Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Parvati.&nbsp; Huge Nandi statue which is 6 ft is located right opposite to the temple.&nbsp;Images of Elephants were carved on the Southern gate and Lion on the Northern gate. From the inscriptions, it is known that there supposed to be 80 temples but it is 25 now.&nbsp;The temple measures 87 ft x 46 ft.</p>



<p>From the inscriptions, it is known that King Dhangadeva installed two Lingas which is Stone and Emerald. Emerald Linga is missing in the temple.</p>

<p>Khajuraho Temples History, Timings, Route info</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Khajuraho Temples History</h2>



<p>These group of temples were constructed on high platforms. Khajuraho Temples are divided into 3 groups ie. Western Group, Eastern Group and Southern Group. It is said that there supposed to be 85 temples but now it is 25. These temples lost its glory around 1500 AD after the invasion.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Western Group Temples</h3>



<p>Kandariya Mahadev, Lakshmana Temple, Chaunsath Yogini, Chitragupta Temple, Vishwanath Temple, Matageshwar Temple and Varah Temple.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Eastern Group Temples</h3>



<p>Parshvanath Temple, Ghantai Temple, Aadinath Temple and Shantinath Temple.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Southern Group Temples</h3>



<p>Duladev Temple, Chaturbhuj Temple and Bija Mandal etc.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Famous Khajuraho Temples List</h3>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Vishwanath Temple</h3>



<p>This temple is dedicated to Lord Siva and was built in the 11th Century by Chandelles. This temple is located between Lakshmana and Kandariya Temples.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Lakshmana Temple</h3>



<p>This temple was built by the King Yasovarman during 930 &#8211; 950 AD. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Jagadamba Temple</h3>



<p>This temple was built during 1002 &#8211; 102 AD by the King Ganda. This temple is situated in the Western Group and is southwest of Vishwanatha Temple.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Kandariya Temple</h3>



<p>The height of Shikara is 100 ft. Inside Temple walls were carved with Thousands of Idols. This temple was built during 1025 &#8211; 1050 AD. This temple is dedicated to Lord Siva. This is largest of all the temples with 31 mt tall Garbha Griha.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Chaunsat Yogini Temple</h3>



<p>This is the ancient temple.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Chitragupta Temple</h3>



<p>This temple resembles the Jagadamba Temple construction style.</p>



<p>The idol of Parshvanath was installed in 1860 AD.</p>
