Mehrangarh fort Jodhpur History, Timings, Entry fees and Route info.
This fort was built during the reign of Rao Jodha in 1438 AD. The fort walls stand at a height of 118 ft and width 69 ft. There are 7 entry gates to the fort which were built by 7 rulers at different times. The museum inside the fort displays the artefacts from Rajasthan Royal families and Mughal emperors as well. Jaswant Singh renovated the fort during 1638 -1678. This fort stretches over an area of 5 Km and was built on a hilltop at 125 mt high.
Mehrangarh, Where Mihir means Sun God and Garh means fort which was derived from Sanskrit.
The fort is known for its beautiful latticed windows, shaped panels, intricately coloured windows.
