When the man enters the 61st year after a prosperous 60 years, the relatives perform Shastipoorthi’s 60th birthday pooja. To honour it, people gather and perform the homa and abhishekas so that the couple can receive the Lord’s blessings.

Because the ritual prolongs the couple’s lives and improves their well-being, it is also known as the Ayush Shanthi Homam. As the pair approaches the end of their paternal duties, this helps them in their heavenly progression.

On this day, all of the couple’s friends and family members gather in a function hall, at a temple, or even at their house to watch the festivities, which include a family divinity pooja followed by nine homa—Ganapathy, Lakshmi, Amurtha Mrityunjaya, Ayush, and Danvantri—and then Kalasabhisheka, which is optional and dependent on the couple.
