The Tirumala Upanayanam Procedure includes details about timings, pooja costs, and the booking process.

Duration: 4 to 5 hours. 4 hours of Pooja procedure before Muhurtham and 1 hour after Muhurtham.

Ideal Age for Upanayanam

A Brahmin can be married in the 5th, 8th, or before the 16th year.
12th or 14th or 16th year for Kshatriya
16th year for Vaishya

It is advisable to perform Upanayanam before the 16th year. It is believed that a woman who donates a Golden Yagnopavetham to a Brahmin will remove Dosha related to pregnancy. Upanayanam can be performed separately or as a group. To perform separately, a hall can be booked for the pooja process.

Before booking the hall or making the arrangements for the Upanayanam, the above-mentioned details must be provided. Rooms can be booked along with the hall. A small place can be reserved for a small group. The puja starts at 7 a.m.

Items required for the Upanayanam?

Fruits: five types
Small-sized floral garlands
Two sets of dhotis and upper cloths made of yellow fabric are required.

The child or his parents must bring these items before coming to the hall. The required Pooja materials will be arranged on-site. The Upanayanam date can be calculated based on the Tara Balam (the strength of the star). An astrologer can calculate the details based on the birth star. The child’s family is also required to carry out a set of puja rituals at home.

The devotees can have food at the trust after the Upanayanam ceremony. Food charges: Rs. 100 per person.

Auspicious Days for Brahmin Boy Upanayanam

Upanayanam should be performed during Uttarayanam. This ritual should be performed before Ashada masam. An astrologer can let you know the auspicious days for this ritual. Usually, auspicious days start after the Sankranti festival. No muhurtham will be there during Dakshinayanam.
