Tara Tarini Nitya Bhog

The devotee can choose the date and Bhog will be offered on his/her name and family. It is performed once in a year on the devotees’ name. The devotee can avail this Bhog at the temple for the mentioned date. If not collected it will be offered to devotees.

Nithya Archana Cost: Rs.5000 – Rs.11,000

Archana will be performed on Devotees Name or suggested names. It is performed once in a year as opted by the devotee. The devotee who contributed amount Rs.5000 to Rs.11,000 can avail this opportunity

The donation is accepted at the temple admin office or thru DD/MO.

Festival Days: Tuesdays during Chaitra. 2nd and 3rd Tuesday are the auspicious days during this month.

Temple Timings on the festival days: 5:00 am – 11:00 pm. Closing Time will be late these days.

Tara Tarini Chaitra Mela

Hair offering will be done at Hilltop and the foot entrance. Additional barbers will be deployed to meet the crowd. Devotees offer hair on Tuesdays.

Special Khechudi Bhoga Ticket Cost: Rs.7/ packet. Distribution Timings: Monday Midnight – Tuesday 6:00 pm.

Thousands of devotees participate in this Mela. Devotees used offer Pooja to Chalanti Pratima which is available at Bije Pitha for the Bije Pratima.

Tara Tarini Temple History

As per the Legend, Sati daughter of Daksha Prajapati married Lord Siva against her father’s will. Daksha thought of insulting Lord Siva for which he decided to perform Yagna inviting all Devas and excluding Lord Siva. Sati who came to know about her father’s intention reached her maternal home to advise her father. Daksha insulted Sati in front of the guests. Angered Sati immolated herself in the Yogagni. Lord Siva raised high and instructed Veera Bhadra to kill Daksha. Veera Bhadra along with Kali and other Siva Ganas reached Yagnashala and destroyed Yagna and Killed Daksha. Lord Siva on collecting Sati’s corpse performed Dance of Destruction. Lord Vishnu sent his Chakra and made Sati’s body into pieces. The broken pieces fell across the Indian subcontinent and named as Shakti Peetas. It is said that Sati Devi’s breast had fallen here.

Temple is located on top of Kumari Hill (Purnagiri). It is located next to River Rushikulya. It is at an altitude of 708 ft.
