Mukthi Naga Temple History

This Idol was sculptured by the famous Sculptor in Kanchipuram, Padmashri Ganapathi Stapathi.  This seven hooded idol is a monolithic statue sculptured for 18 months by 15 sculptors under the guidance of Ganapati Sthapathi. It is said that this place was the land for a serpent deity for 200 years. This temple is 18 km from Bengaluru Bus station. The idol was installed in 2005 by Subramanya Sastry similar to Thanjavur Bruhadeswar Temple. As per the folklore, 25 ft long King Cobra used to live here for 200 years.

Magadi Ranganathaswamy Temple History

As per the Legend, It is Sage Mandavya who installed Lord Paschima Venkatachalapathy and performed strict penance at this Kshetra. Hence the name, Mandavya Kshetra. The main deity in this temple is facing West, Hence the name Paschima Venkatchalapathy. Magadi is also called as Dakshina Tirupathi which means South Tirupathi.

It is said that Lord Ranganatha Swamy statue size is growing year by year, so the deity called by Beleyo RanganathaSwamy. Abhishekam performed to the Self-manifested Salagrama Sila will not be seen after Abhishekam.

This temple was built during the reign of the King Rajendra Chola in the 12th century. Later, renovated during the reign of Vijayanagara dynasty. The present form of the temple was built by the King Kempe Gowda. Later Kempe Gowda I and II contributed towards the temple. Temple Gopuram was built in Dravidian style while the deity inside the temple reflects the Vijayanagara Empire style.

It is believed that having Darshan at the temple will gain the same benefit when having Darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala.

Bull Temple History

Bull Temple is popular by the name Dodda Basavana Gudi, where Dodda means Big in Kannada. This temple was built by the King Kempe Gowda in 1537 AD. Temple architecture reflects the Dravidian style. Nandi vehicle for Lord Siva is of 4.5 mt in height and 6.5 mt in length.

As per the Legend, Bull used to graze on the groundnut fields daily. One day farmer saw the bull grazing on the field and hit the Bull with the stick. The bull then turned into the statue and started growing large. The farmer the prayed for Lord Siva who appeared in his dreams and advised him to place the trident on the Bull’s head. Trident can be seen clearly during the temple visit. From then on Farmers used to celebrate festival groundnut festival to pacify Bull. They used to offer their first ground nuts crop for the deity and this festival called by Kadalekai Parishe. Kadalekai Parishe festival will be celebrated on first Monday and Tuesday in Karthika Masam.
