Yadagirigutta Temple Legends

Legend dates back to Trethayugam, When Sage Yadava, son of Rishyasringa decided to perform the penance for the Lord Vishnu, seeking the darshan of Narasimha Swamy Avatar (One of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu) in his three forms (Avatar). On Anjaneya’s advice, Sage Yadava moved to the base of a hillock here and performed a strict penance. Impressed Lord Vishnu granted the Darshan at the base of the hillock. Sage attained salvation and the hill popular by the name Yadavagiri.

Knowing the presence of the Lord, tribals living nearby gathered here to worship the Lord. Out of Ignorance, they indulged in some improper practices while worshiping, which resulted in the Lord moving up the hills. Tribals searched for the Lord and in vain they returned back their homes.

One fine day Lord appeared in the dreams of a devout tribal lady and revealed his whereabouts. Lord blessed the tribals and appeared in his five forms.
