A sage named Yadarishi lived in Tretayugam. He was the son of Santa Devi and the famous sage Rishyasrunga. Anjaneya guided the sage while performing tapas inside a cave on the hill between Bhuvanagiri and Raigiri. In five different forms—Sri Jwala Narasimha, Sri Yogananda, Sri Gandabherunda, Sri Ugra, and Sri Lakshminarasimha—Lord Narasimha, the avatar of Lord Vishnu, stood before him, pleased by his sincere devotion. In the temple today, all five of these roopas are worshiped. Later, they took the form of beautifully sculpted figures that were known as Pancha Narasimha Kshetram and were worshipped.
