This artificial lake came into existence in 1965, after the construction o Umiam Umtru Hydro Electric Power Project. This lake stretches over an area of 220 Sq. Km. Kayaking, water cycling, scooting, and boating etc are available here. The houseboat is available for the night stay.

The beauty around Umiam resembles Lakes of Scotland. It consists of a very beautiful lake resort and a Nehru park inside its premises. This lake is located in the hills of Shillong and is 15 Km away. Located on the Guwahati – Shillong Route. This lake is also known as Barapani Lake.

An ideal time to spend here: 4-5 hours.

Best Time to Visit: Nov-Jun.
