Tripindi Shradh at Rameswaram, Pindadan Timings and Cost

The Rameswaram Temple‘s history is closely linked to Hindu mythology. Hinduism connects this temple to Lord Rama, one of the most praised gods. It is believed that while traveling to Lanka to save his wife, Sita, from the evil king Ravana, Lord Rama stopped in Rameswaram with the help of his devoted follower, Hanuman.

Before starting the famous fight with Ravana, Lord Rama is said to have worshipped Lord Shiva in Rameswaram, asking for his blessings and direction. Lord Rama chose this spot to install a lingam, or abstract image of Lord Shiva, as an act of respect for Lord Shiva’s assistance. This lingam is said to be the Swayambhu lingam, indicating that it manifested itself.
