During Girivalam devotees covers a distance of 12 km by walk with barefoot. This event commences on every full moon day. Devotees will go around the Arunachala hill. It is believed that participating in Girivalam will relieves us from this birth cycle.  Devotees start the event after offering prayers to the Lord Ganesh, located to the left of Rajagopuram ( Temple Tower). During this path, devotees will be covering 8 other siva shrines.

 

How to reach Thiruvannamalai Temple?

  1. From Chennai Temple is 207 km away, which takes 3 hours 45 mins drive by own vehicle and 4 hour 30 mins by bus.
  2. Daily trains are available from Chennai to Thiruvannamalai. Special trains will be available on this day.
  3. Thiruvannamalai well connected with all parts of Tamilnadu.
  4. Thiruvannamalali can be reached from Chennai and Villipuram. Villipuram is 61 km away.
