<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Thiruparankundram History</h2>



<p>As per the Legend, Lord Subramanya Swamy married Indra&#8217;s daughter Devasena at this place. It is said that this temple was built during 6th Century AD. This is a cave temple where Lord Resides where with DevaSena. This is one of the 6 holy abodes of Lord Muruga.&nbsp;It is also said that Subramanya did penance for Lord Siva here as Parangirinathar.&nbsp;King Harishchandra did penance here on this Hill for Lord Siva.</p>



<p>As per the folklore, Poet Nakkeerar was captured by the Devil who came&nbsp;here to perform penance for Lord Siva. The poet prayed for Lord Murugan who appeared before and Killed the demon with his weapon. Lord Subramanya created a holy tank with his weapon Vel on request of the poet.</p>



<p>Punugu (Civet oil) will be applied to the deity. Abhishek is performed on the weapon Vel.</p>

<p>Morning Hours: 5:00 am &#8211; 1:00 pm</p>



<p>Evening Hours: 4:00 pm &#8211; 9:00 pm</p>
