<p>Snana Yatra at Puri Jagannath Temple, Timings, Dates</p>



<p>Date: 9th Jun 2017</p>



<p>Snan Yatra or Snan Purnima is a ritual which happens once in a year. During this time, a holy bath will be performed for the deities Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. The water for the whole event will be collected from the well located near the northern gate of the temple. Bathing will be performed with 108 vessels which were mixed with aromatic and herbals. After the bath, the idols will be taken out in a procession from the Garbha Griha in the early hours. The procession is called by Pahandi procession. Water from this well is used once a year on this occasion.</p>



<p>Later, the deities were decorated in Sada Besha&nbsp;and Hati Besha (Head in the form of Lord Ganesh) in the afternoon. Later the deities kept in Mantap for Devotees Darshan. Later the deities will be moved to temple complex and reappears a day before Ratha Yatra ie after 15 days. &nbsp;As per the local folklore, that the deities will be sick after the holy bath and will be reenergized after 15 days.</p>



<p>Snana-Yatra ( Deva Snana Purnima) will be celebrated on the full moon day of Jyeshta&nbsp;month i.e May-June.</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>The nearest airport is at Bhubaneswar which is 64 km away.</li></ol>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">By Train</h4>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>The nearest railway station is at Khurda Road Station which is 44 km, from Puri. The direct trains are available from all parts of India.</li></ol>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">By Road</h4>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>Temple can be reached from Bhubaneswar station.</li></ol>
