This is sanctuary stretches on 40 acres of land and hosts variety of birds such as Kingfisher, Osprey, Egret, Eurasian Spoonbill, Painted stork, Pelicans, Purple heron and much more. Crocodiles and Smooth-coated otters are commonly seen here. Sanctuary is 16 km from Mysore Palace and is 5 km from Srirangapatna town. Bird Sanctuary was formed in the year 1600 during dam construction across the river Cauvery. In the year 1940, the then King of Mysore declared the area as the protected site for the birds as it attracts a variety of birds all over the world.

Best Time to visit: Jun, Jul, Aug and Sep months. Birds will be nesting during this time. One can find crocodiles while riding the boat.
