Nithya Kalyana Perumal Temple Thiruvidanthai. The main deity, Varaha Swamy, is called Nithya Kalyana Perumal. One of the 108 Tirupathis that the Vaishnavite saints (the Alwars) sing of is this temple.

Approximately 41 kilometers from Chennai, on the way to Mahabalipuram, is where you’ll find this temple at Thiruvidaventhai.
The Nitya Kalyana Perumal is the name of the Utsavamurti. The main deity is called Varahaswamy Sri Lakshmi Adi. The main deity is approximately nine feet tall. The only other Alvar who has performed songs in honor of this deity is Thirumangai Alvar. Here, the Lord goes by Gnanapiran as well. With Lord Vishnu assuming the appearance of a boar (Varaha), the idol is in a highly uncommon shape.
While the left foot is elevated to the knee and rests atop Adisesha’s head, the right foot remains firmly planted on the earth.

The consort Bhoomidevi rested on the Lord’s thigh. It is said that no other temple allows us to perceive God in this form. The location has been named Thiru (holy prefix) Ida Yenthai (left side) because the consort is lying on his left thigh. It changed throughout time and became Thiruvidaventhai and then Thiruvedanthai.
Lord Varaha Murti has a temple in Mahabalipuram as well. Thiruvalaventhai, which translates to “Thiru (holy prefix) Valaventhai (right-hand side),” is another name for Mahabalipuram since the consort is positioned on the Lord’s right-hand side there.

Nithya Kalyana Perumal Temple Legends

As per the legends, Lord Varaha Swamy, the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu, married 360 daughters of Sage Kalava for 360 days and this was in response to a boon granted to the Sage. It is believed that Lord Self-manifested here with His consort Komalavalli.
