As per the folklore, Lord Dattatreya offered prayed for this deity during Kruta Yuga. It is said that Dattatreya taught Vedas for his disciples, hence the name Vedadri. From the Puranas, it is known that this place was called by Narayanadri during Tretayuga and Yadavadri during Dwapara Yuga. The great Vaishnavite Sri Ramanujacharya reinstalled the deity in this Kaliyuga and is called by Yathishaila.

As per the Legend, Varaha an incarnation of Lord Vishnu rescued the Goddess Bhudevi from the demon Hiranyaksha. During the rescue process, heavy sweat emerged from Lord Varaha and Goddess Bhudevi. Kalyani Tirtha formed out of these sweat drops. It is believed that River Ganga water enters Kalyani Tirtha during Phalguna month.

As per the folklore, Lord Vishnu appeared before Brahma in an Idol on request of his request. Lord Brahma used to offer prayers daily. Sage Sanatkumara, Spiritual Son of Lord Brahma, requested Brahma and installed the Idol on the Earth.

Yoga Narasimha Swamy temple is located 3000 ft above the sea level. This temple is 1000 years old and was built during the reign of the King Vishnu Vardhan. As per the Legend, Prahalada showed this hill to Lord Narasimha after killing the demon Hiranya Kashyap. Lord self-manifested in a Yoga posture.
