Mada forests

It is natural formation on the bays of River Godavari, Krishna, Gouthami and Vaintheya with the Ocean. Olive Ridley sea turtles lay eggs on the 18 Km long sandpit on the North-Eastern side of the Sanctuary. Turtles lay eggs on this sand beaches between Dec and May months. Totally 35 Plant species are located in this Sanctuary. Walking the wooden bridge which is 2.5 km long attracts tourists, as it passes thru the forest wetlands.

Commonly noticed birds in this forest, Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Pied Kingfisher, Small Blue Kingfisher, Black-Capped KingFisher, Pond Heron, Reef Heron, Grey Heron, Night Heron, Little Stint, Sand Piper, Red Shrank, Red Wattle-Lapwing, Crow Pheasant, Flamingos, Sea Gulls, Purple Heron, Brahmini Kite, Open Bill Stork, Little Cormorant. This wetland forest host animals like the smooth Indian Otters (Mudskipper, Crab) Jackal Monkeys and Fishing cat.

Boating Timings: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Daily.

By Air

1. The nearest airport is at Rajahmundry which is 70 km away.

By Train

1. The nearest railway station is at Kakinada which is 20 km away. Rajahmundry railway station is 60 km away.

By Road

1. This place can be reached by bus from Kakinada station or by own vehicle. Boating is available from Rajahmundry to Mada.
