<p>Maihar Devi Temple, Timings, History, Darshan and Puja</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Maihar Devi Temple History</h2>



<p>As per the legend, Sati, Daksha Prajapati&#8217;s daughter married Lord Siva against her father&#8217;s will. Daksha decided to perform Yagna in a grand inviting all Devas except Lord Siva and Sati. Sati who came to know about the Yagna reached her paternal home ignoring Lord Siva&#8217;s request. Daksha insulted Sati before the guests. Angered Sati self-immolated her in the Yogagni. Angered Lord Siva ordered Veerabhadra to destroy Yagna and Kill Daksha. Veerabhadra along with Kali and other Siva Ganas destroyed Yagna and slayed Daksha&#8217;s head. Lord Siva danced the dance of destruction on collecting Sati&#8217;s corpse. Lord Vishnu to avoid universal destruction sent his Chakra and made Sati&#8217;s body into pieces. The pieces which fell across Indian Subcontinent and emerged as Shakti Peetas. It is believed that Sati&#8217;s Necklace fell here. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peetas across the Indian Subcontinent.&nbsp;This temple was built in 502 AD.</p>



<p>This temple is located on top of the Hill Trikoota and takes 1063 steps to reach the temple. The ropeway is also available for the convenience of the devotees.</p>



<p>The Temple will be thronged with thousands of devotees during Navaratri and on Sri Rama Navami days.</p>

<p>Morning Hours: 5:00 am &#8211; 8:00 am</p>



<p>Evening Hours: 4:00 pm &#8211; 9:00 pm</p>



<p>Summer Season: Oct-Mar.</p>



<p>Dress Code: Any decent outfit.</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>The nearest airport is at Khajuraho which is 106 Km away from the temple.</li><li>Jabalpur airport is 145 Km away from the temple.</li></ol>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">By Train</h4>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>Maihar Railway station falls on Mumbai-Howrah line so the frequency is good.</li><li>Temple is 5 km from Maihar station.</li></ol>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">By Road</h4>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>The direct bus/ tax is available from Maihar station and Satna.</li></ol>
