Korukonda Temple History

As per the Legend, Lord Narasimha self-manifested with His consort Lakshmi Devi on top of the hill on request of Parasara Maharshi. Temple at the foot of the hills was installed by Parasara Maharshi. Temple on top of the hill can be reached by steps path and is 615 steps in total. The main deity inside the temple is 9 inches in height. It is said that Pandavas worshipped Narasimha Swamy here during their stay near to the hill.

From the inscriptions, it is known that the temple exists from 1302 AD. Temple walls were carved with the images from the epic Ramayana. Poojas at this temple were performed as stated in Agama Sastra.

Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Kalyanotsavam will be performed on Phalguna Suddha Ekadasi followed by Rathotsavam in the afternoon hours. Korukonda Theertham will be celebrated in Phalguna Masam ie. in the month of Apr. Pavlimpotsavam will be celebrated on the final day which ends on the Pournami (full moon) day. Lakhs of devotees throng the temple during the annual festival.

Dasanjaneya Swamy is located within the temple premises.

Temple Pooja activities start with Suprabhatha Seva and end the day with Pavalimpu Seva for Sayana Narasimha Swamy Utsava deity.
