]]> Karpaga Vinayagar in Pillayarpatti is known as boon giver. The presiding deity is in the form of an exquisite bas-relief sculpture in Karpaga Vinayagar or Desi Vinayaka, whose very presence is said to be the fount of wealth and prosperity. Like the Karpaga Vriksham (Tree of prosperity) which bestows all prosperity, praying to this Idol will shower all good. Main deity faces North direction, the direction of Kubera (demi-god of wealth), and trunk truned to the right. The main deity is of 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide and is seated in Ardha Padmasana.

Karpaga Vinayagar History

This temple was built during the reign of Pandya Kings in 5th Century A.D and is situated in a cave. This temple has two Temple towers ( Raja Gopuras) and grand Vimana. It is known from the inscriptions that Vikrama Pandya Thevar, Kuluthunga Chola III, Sundara Pandya Thevar and Kulasekhara Thevar made huge contributions towards the temple. The Nattukottai Chettiars in 13th Century A.D endowed the temple with lands and jewels and made a number of structural additions.
