Distance from Tirupati to Kaligiri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Kaligiri Konda: 55 Km, South to Tirupati

The temple of Kaligiri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is located on top of Kaligiri Konda (hill ). It is a very ancient temple. Kaligiri Venkateswara Swamy temple is situated nearly 2000 feet above the sea level.

Kaligiri Venkateswara Swamy Temple History

This temple wields a rich history, with the British rulers earmarking 10 hectares of forest land for the Kaligiri temple in 1893.

The temple trustees observed that on the same date of the same year, the British had also reserved 15 hectares of land to Lord Sri Venkateswara temple at Tirumala hills.

Kaligiri Venkateswara Swamy Temple on Kaligiri Konda as per Sthala Purana

Kaliyuga is comprised of evil components like Kama (Lust), Krodha (anger), Lobha (Greediness), Moha (Fantasy), Madha (Liquor), Matsalyamu (Envy), Himsa (Violence), Joodamu (Dice – Play), Falsehood, Katinatvamu (Cruelty), Sikshinchuta (punishment) and Vinodamu (Entertainment). This evil component acts as Ministers’ for Kalipurusha.

In Kaliyuga, when Dharma started running on one leg, all these evil components are actively capturing the human being and causing sufferings to the Human Kind. To get rid of Kali effects, All Gods went to lord Brahma to seek the solution for the Kalipurusha acts. Lord Brahma along with other God’s went to Sri Venkateswara Swamy on Tirumala Hills to represent the sufferings. He bestows the representation and provides them with relief. Lord Maha Vishnu went on Garuda to capture Kalipurusha. While trying to escape from Lord Maha Vishnu, Kalipurusha took the shape of a hill called Kaligiri. To stop Kali acts, Lord Vishnu puts his first step on the hill, which is named as “Noolukonda”.

One can find these footprints (3 ft long approx) which next to the pond.

Ganga took the birth at the footsteps of Maha Vishnu and formed as perennial Pushkarini. Devotees used to the holy dip at this Pushkarini.

Whoever visits Kaligiri Venkateswara Swamy on Kaligiri Konda will not be affected by Kalipurusha

Poojas at Kaligiri Temple, Kaligiri Konda

Kaligiri Brahmotsavam and Tirumala Brahmotsavam fall on the same days.

Special Pooja will be held on Saturday’s during the Months of September and October for 5 days.
