As per the Legend, The Demon King Bhasmasura did penance for Lord Siva for years. Impressed Lord Siva blessed Bhasmasura with a wish that he can turn anyone into ashes by placing his hand on their head. Bhasmasura thought of testing his wish on Siva itself. Siva while trying to escape from the demon passed thru Tilak Sindur and reached the present place. While passing thru the Caves he lost his Jata (hair). This cave remains open on all days.

There are two natural ponds inside the cave, one is hot and another one is cold.

Temple will be thronged with devotees during Maha Sivaratri day and Karthik Masa days.

Jata Shankar Pachmarhi Timings

6:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Entry fees: No charges.

Dress Code: Any decent outfit
