<p>Jambukeshwara Temple History, Timings, Darshan details</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Jambukeshwara temple History</h2>



<p>As per the folklore, Goddess Parvati made Siva Linga out of the River Cauvery water&nbsp;and installed under Venn Naaval tree in the Jambu forest. Goddess Parvati performed strict penance and performed strict penance. Impressed Lord Siva appeared before her and did Upadesa (Siva Gnana). The Linga here called by Appu Lingam. Goddess Parvati received the Gyan facing East while Lord Siva offered Gyan facing West. Hence the Temple in Thiruvanaikoil&nbsp;was facing West.</p>



<p>Goddess Parvati here called by Akhilandeswari while Lord Siva by Jambukeshwara. The temple priest performs Pooja for the Lord Siva in female attire. Thiru Kalyanam will not be performed here as Goddess appeared here in the form of a student while Lord Siva as Guru.</p>



<p>This temple was built during the reign of Chola Kings in 2nd Century AD.&nbsp;Thiruvanaikkaval is one of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalams, the&nbsp;<span class="highlightNode">where Lord Siva represents Water element. &nbsp;Temple is situated on the northern banks of River Cauvery.&nbsp;</span></p>



<p>Water flows underneath the Siva Linga. It is said that Adisankaracharya added Ear Rings for the Goddess to bring Sowmya Roopa.</p>



<p>Nine Theerthams near this temple are Sreemath Theertham, Rama Theertham, Chandra Theertham, Agni Theertham, Indra Theertham, Agastya Theertham, Jambu Theertham, Surya Theertham and Brahma Theertham</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>The direct trains are available from all parts of Tamil Nadu and nearby states to Trichy. Temple is 5 km from Railway station.</li></ol>
