Chilakalapudi Panduranga Swamy Temple History

This temple was built by the ardent devotee Teki Narasimham on 13 Sep 1929. It is believed that Lord Vishnu self-manifested here as Panduranga. Saint Narasimham received the blessing from Sadguru Mahipathi Maharaj in Pandaripuram. It stands second in the row of Panduranga Temples. Pandaripuram in Maharastra is the first in the list. At Chilakalapudi Temple, Poojas are not charged and no Hundi for offerings. Devotees used to offer Patika Bellam (Rock Candy).

Devotees used to take a holy dip at Manginapudi Seashore during Karthika Masam. A special festival (Thirunall) will be held in Karthika Masam which starts on Ekadasi and ends on Purnima (Full moon day). Devotees used to take bath with Wellwater from 12 holy wells located next to Manginapudi seashore. It is believed that these 12 Wells represents 12 holy rivers in India.

Satyanarayana Vratham will be performed for the group in this temple. It is believed that saint performing penance for the past 350 years beneath the Sthala Vruksha. Devotees used to perform Pradakshinam for this tree. This place is also popular by the name Keer Pandaripuram, where Keer means Parrot in Marathi. As parrots used to live huge in number hence the name.

There are 108 sub-temples within the temple complex. Temple will be heavily crowded during Karthika Masam as Gouri Pooja on taking holy bath in the sea nearby.
